More than a bag - Oprah’s It’s in the Bag story
In this episode of Another Bloody Podcast, Share the Dignity Founder, Rochelle Courtenay, shares an exciting moment ten years in the making: unboxing an It’s in the Bag donation packed by Oprah Winfrey.
When Rochelle first put Oprah on her Share the Dignity vision board over a decade ago, she could only dream of what might be possible. Now, that dream has become a reality, with Oprah packing a bag for an Australian woman or girl, who she will never meet, this Christmas.
For Rochelle and Share the Dignity, this moment is about so much more than a famous name on a handbag. It’s about the message at the heart of It’s in the Bag: that every woman and girl deserves to feel seen, valued and cared for.
While Oprah’s bag is an incredible pinch-me moment, Rochelle is quick to remind us that it’s no more important than any other bag donated. Whether it’s packed by a global icon or someone filling a handbag with essentials at home, every bag carries the same message: you matter, you haven’t been forgotten, and someone cares.
As Rochelle opens Oprah’s bag, she reflects on the journey that brought Share the Dignity to this moment, the power of a vision that never left her, and the incredible community of people who make It’s in the Bag possible.
Join us for this special episode of Another Bloody Podcast to share in an emotional milestone for Rochelle and Share the Dignity, and remember that the real magic of It’s in the Bag has never been about who packs the bag, but the difference it makes to the person receiving it.
