<p>Andrew Poveda interviews Dr. Kimberly Templeton, Professor and Vice Chair of Orthopaedic Surgery and Associate Dean for Continuing Medical Education at the University of Kansas Medical Center. A past president of the American Medical Women's Association and the U.S. Bone and Joint Initiative, Dr. Templeton has spent her career in orthopaedic oncology, one of medicine's smallest and least diverse subspecialties, pushing to make the field more equitable, where only about 6% of orthopaedic surgeons are women. She shares her path from Washington University and the University of Missouri through her residency in Chicago and oncology fellowship at Harvard. As a first-generation student, she discusses the barriers facing women physicians and why representation in orthopaedics still has a long way to go. He's candid about it too, admitting he'd leave medicine for tech in a heartbeat if the startup let him.</p>
