The Terrorist Who May Be Running Al-Qaeda Right Now: Saif Al-Adel
The Terrorist Who May Be Running Al-Qaeda Right Now He's wanted by the FBI for his alleged role in the 1998 U.S. embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania, which killed 224 people. He fled to Iran, lived for years under a strange, semi-official house arrest, and was eventually released in a prisoner exchange. He's been linked to Hezbollah's most notorious operative, to the founder of what became ISIS, and to a Syrian jihadist splinter group. And according to the United Nations and the U.S. State Department, he may currently be the de facto leader of al-Qaeda itself, directing the organization from inside Iran without the group ever officially admitting it. This is the story of Saif Al-Adel: a $10 million fugitive the U.S. government says may not be hiding at all, but running one of the most dangerous terrorist networks in the world. The Fugitive Who Isn't Hiding: Ahlam Al-Tamimi
She Masterminded a Massacre. Then She Went Home. In 2001, a young journalism student helped plan one of the deadliest suicide bombings of the Second Intifada — scouting a crowded Jerusalem pizza restaurant, and personally leading the bomber to the door. Fifteen to sixteen people were killed, many of them children. Ahlam Al-Tamimi was convicted in Israel and sentenced to sixteen life terms — then released just eight years later in a massive prisoner exchange. She went on to build a media career in Jordan, express no remorse, and remain completely out of reach of American prosecutors despite being on the FBI's Most Wanted Terrorists list for over a decade. This is the story of a fugitive who isn't hiding at all — protected instead by a legal standoff between two allied governments that has now outlasted four U.S. presidential administrations. Hiding in Plain Sight for 27 Years: The Tupac Shakur Murder
For years, one man told anyone who would listen what happened the night Tupac Shakur was shot. It still took 27 years to charge him. On September 7, 1996, just hours after a casino fight caught on security cameras at the MGM Grand, Tupac was shot in Las Vegas. He died six days later at 25. The man long viewed as the likely shooter, Orlando Anderson, was killed in 1998 and never charged, and the case went quiet. But Anderson's uncle, Duane "Keffe D" Davis, kept talking: in a 2008 police interview, in documentary interviews, and in a 2019 memoir. In September 2023, he was finally indicted for murder. After repeated delays, his trial began in August 2026, and on August 31, 2026, a Las Vegas jury found him guilty of first-degree murder with the use of a deadly weapon. Sentencing is set for October 13, 2026, and he has said he plans to appeal. Only one person has ever been convicted in this case, and no one else has been charged. Whether that settles the story is a question this episode leaves with you. This is Apex Crime Vault, where every file tells a story. Apex Crime Vault where every file tells a story. The Zodiac Killer: A Mystery Never Solved
The Zodiac Killer remains one of America’s most enduring unsolved criminal cases. Between 1968 and 1969, a series of attacks in Northern California left five people dead and two survivors. The killer later claimed responsibility through letters sent to newspapers, accompanied by coded messages that challenged investigators and the public to identify him. Some of those ciphers were eventually solved. Others remain unsolved. Over the decades, multiple suspects and theories have emerged, but no individual has been officially established as the Zodiac Killer. In this episode of Apex Crime Vault, we follow the case from the first confirmed attacks through the letters, ciphers, investigation, major suspects, and the theories that continue to surround the case. What do the evidence, the investigation, and the surviving records actually tell us? This is the Zodiac Killer, the name we still don't know. Apex Crime Vault where every file tells a story. The Cryptoqueen has disappeared. On October 25th, 2017, Ruja Ignatova flew from Sofia to Athens. Since then, investigators have never publicly established where she went. ONE OF THE FBI'S TEN MOST WANTED FUGITIVES; EPISODE ONE: THE CRYPTOQUEEN
In October 2017, Dr. Ruja Ignatova boarded a flight from Sofia, Bulgaria, to Athens, Greece — and then disappeared. By that point, she had built OneCoin into a global cryptocurrency empire that had attracted billions of dollars from people around the world. But investigators would later allege that the cryptocurrency behind the empire was never what it appeared to be. OneCoin was marketed as “the Bitcoin killer.” Thousands attended spectacular events. Millions of dollars changed hands. Families, retirees, teachers, small business owners, and entire communities placed their trust — and their savings — into the promise of a financial revolution. Behind the spectacle, however, investigators began asking a simple question: Where is the blockchain? In Episode One of Apex Crime Vault, we go back to the beginning of OneCoin, examine Ruja Ignatova's rise, the company's business model, the alleged fake coins, the millions of victims, the regulatory warnings, and the financial investigation that eventually closed in around her. Then, on October 12th, 2017, U.S. authorities filed charges against Ruja Ignatova. Thirteen days later, she boarded a plane. That flight would become the last confirmed movement of the Cryptoqueen.
