Stubbornness and inflexibility can cause your growth in the Lord to slow to a crawl. How can our ears and hearts can remain open to what He has to say?
This is the next session in a new series called “Beyond Belief” – teachings designed to help us “…grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18). We’re working on solving what I like to call the “Swiss Cheese Problem” – a Christian experience that’s somewhat solid but still has evident holes. We hope you’ll join us and explore some concepts that everyone just assumes a Christian should know about, but that no one ever seems to teach about.

One Nation Under God
Let’s not give in to passivity, a spirit of complaining, or a spirit of fear. Instead, let’s pray for America and for the rising generation. Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD!
Witness these two quotes from Abraham Lincoln:
“…it is the duty of nations as well as of men to own [acknowledge] their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon, and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord…”
“We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of heaven. We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth, and power, as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. . . Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God who made us! It behooves us, then, to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness.”
