Marriott International, Inc. (MAR) Q2 2026 | The Gap Report
$MAR Marriott —
May said Visa, Chase, and Amex negotiations were going well; guidance excluded any deal impact.
August: agreements closed with JPMorgan Chase and American Express — Visa absent, no explanation offered — with $30M in incremental 2026 fees and a $100–$125M annual run rate expected by 2028.
World Cup came in at 45 basis points versus the 30–35 guided.
The $50M May investment raise was attributed almost entirely to Lefay; August investment spend rose $200M more and Lefay was not mentioned.
An ITR incentive program — up to 50 bps of gross room revenue, Marriott-funded — arrived the same quarter an owner letter surfaced in Q&A.
Middle East impact narrowed to ~100 bps from 100–125.

Linde plc (LIN) Q2 2026 | The Gap Report
$LIN Linde — In May, management described Lincare as a contained headwind from a specific policy change, expected to last a few quarters.
By July, the pruning had “simply not been enough,” the Q2 drag came in ~$40M (30% above analyst estimates), and a parallel track was opened: strategic evaluation of whether the business belongs in the portfolio, in part or in full, with an annual run-rate drag now estimated at ~$130M. Against that: the electronics backlog hit $8.1B mid-year, ahead of the year-end $8 handle called in May, with another $800M in Taiwan JV wins sitting off the balance sheet entirely.
The margin commitment moved from a quantified full-year target (40–60 bps, “upper end or above”) to a sequential, near-term promise. Helium normalization pushed to early next year.
Woodside’s nitrogen startup, expected mid-year in May, goes unconfirmed in July.

LPL Financial Holdings Inc. (LPLA) Q2 2026 | The Gap Report
$LPLA LPL Financial Holdings — April’s record recruiting pipeline converted: $25B in recruited assets Q2, strongest quarter in nearly two years excluding large institutional wins, and the pipeline expanded further despite the pull-through.
Core G&A came in at $519M, below its own guided range for the second consecutive quarter; full-year outlook cut again to $2.140B–$2.165B.
Record adjusted EPS $5.84.
Commonwealth retention steady in the mid-80s, Q4 onboard on track, EBITDA run rate estimate up to $435M.
On cash sweep pricing: same language as April — work underway, no timeline, no milestones offered when directly asked.
One mechanical move did happen: ICA tiering methodology shifted from AUM-based to cash-balance-based, adding ~10 bps to Q3 yield and 20 bps on a full run-rate basis — introduced without reference to the broader pricing review.

Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) Q4 2026 | The Gap Report
$MSFT — In April, Azure was guided at 39%–40% CC growth.
July delivered 43%, driven by fleet efficiency gains and faster rack installation — both mechanisms named in April and repeated nearly verbatim in July.
Copilot seats moved from 20M to 30M with net adds more than doubling QoQ; the proof metric quietly shifted from seat count to engagement depth — conversations per user nearly doubled YoY, weekly engagement now on par with Outlook and Teams.
Two April narratives absent in July: Security Copilot’s 2x customer growth and Cobalt CPU’s expansion signal.
Neither surfaced in Q&A.
CapEx delivered at $41B; Hood disclosed a useful life reclassification moving ~$15B off the CY2026 line. New in July: a platform sovereignty argument — enterprise IP belongs to the customer, every model is substitutable.

Visa Inc. (V) Q2 2026 | The Gap Report
Visa’s CFO walked into April’s call and pre-warned investors that 24% CMS growth included one-time items that wouldn’t recur.
Q3 delivered 17%. Clean follow-through on a self-imposed accountability check.
But the $7B stablecoin settlement run rate from April — growing at 50%-plus — wasn’t updated. The Visa CLI, introduced as a near-term activation with positive developer feedback: absent from July entirely.
A comfortable quarter raises a specific question: what gets easier to skip when the numbers are good?

AstraZeneca PLC (AZN) Q2 2026 | The Gap Report
In April, AstraZeneca’s 2030 confidence was “growing.” In July, the word is “intact” — a threshold, not a trajectory.
The narrative gaps between Q1 and Q2:
🔴 The Absences: A $5B+ Wainua CM target was dropped post-trial failure — no revision, no retraction. The PN franchise went completely silent.
🟡 The Friction: SERENA-4 shifted from analytical case to deferral. Baxfendy launched, but full Part D access is a 2028 horizon.
🟢 The Wins: Tozorakimab upgraded to $5B+, Elecoglipron Phase III suite launched, and CLARITY-Gastric01 hit OS ($3B–$5B).
Two narrative corrections, a pipeline that delivered, and the structure beneath both.

Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ) Q2 2026 | The Gap Report
$VZ — April: AI stack "substantially complete by July," multi-billions in revenues "in 3–6 months." July: No mention of the stack milestone; instead, AI Connect — a signed $1B+ Google dark fiber deal, with revenues starting 2027. The core numbers delivered: • Consumer churn: 84 bps (-6 YoY) • COA -15% / COR -17% YoY • H1 FCF: $10.2B (+16%) • EPS guidance raised to 6–7% (2nd raise in a row) Meanwhile, the 8–9M FWA target explicitly defended in April went unmentioned in July.

Intel Corporation (INTC) Q2 2026 | The Gap Report
$INTC — In April, a named Terafab partnership anchored Intel’s CEO prepared remarks. In July, it goes unmentioned across a full hour of foundry discussion.
Meanwhile: • DCAI $6.3B (+59% YoY, “strongest on record”) • 18A yields ahead of March targets • Panther Lake cost reduced ~50% YTD • CapEx tops $20B in 2026; 2027 “significantly above”
CFO: “we must have pretty significant confidence in our customers.” Yet customer commitments backing the CapEx ramp remain unnamed.
Meanwhile, 2026 FCF targets face massive CapEx headwinds, making positive FCF in 2027 “a little bit more challenged.”

Philip Morris International Inc. (PM) Q2 2026 | The Gap Report
PMI raised H2 SG&A. In April, the CFO committed to moderation. By July, it was a step-up — driven by a product launch, a marketing authorization, and a new campaign all arriving in the same quarter.
ZYN Ultra is in-market. The MRTP cleared. The combustible business outperformed.
The guidance didn’t move.
Management calls this an “alignment of planet.” Analysts are being asked to accept that extraordinary opportunity and unchanged targets coexist naturally.

Northrop Grumman Corporation (NOC) Q2 2026 | The Gap Report
In April, management said it expected an F/A-XX award decision “in the third quarter” — and that winning would create upside to guidance. The July call contained no mention of the program. No update, no revision, no acknowledgment.
What the July call did deliver: 1.84x book-to-bill, a $105 billion record backlog, raised sales and EPS guidance, and Sentinel producing milestones ahead of schedule.
Two programs — SiAW and GEM 63XL — created margin pressure across DS and Space. Management isolated each, guided both segments above 11% in the second half, and said so plainly.
Whether the margin recovery arrives as committed — and what the F/A-XX silence means — is what the report examines.

Ryanair Holdings plc (RYAAY) Q1 2027 | The Gap Report
In May, O’Leary told analysts they could buy Ryanair at EUR 22–23: “Here’s the dip.”
The specific mechanism for recovery: Trump resolves the Strait of Hormuz before the U.S. midterm elections kick off. Management said it had been “reliably advised” this would happen by end of May.
The ceasefire broke down. The U.S. resumed bombing. Q2 fares — guided flat in May — are now trending down mid-single digits.
What replaced the specific thesis: patience. What happened to the thesis itself: no update.
