Vessels in Tension | Mark 2:18-22 | Bien-Aime Matanda

In this week’s sermon, Bien-Aime Matanda explores Jesus’ teaching onΒ new wineskins, inviting us to consider how God transforms us so that we can fully embrace our identity as sons and daughters of God. Rather than simply changing our behaviour, Christ calls us into a renewed way of seeing ourselvesβ€”one that is rooted in His grace and righteousness. Drawing from Genesis 15:6, the message reminds us that we have been counted as righteous through faith, and challenges us to see ourselves in the same way that Jesus sees us.

Reflecting on 2 Corinthians 5:17, Bien-Aime encourages us to recognise that in Christ we are a new creation. Many of the struggles we face come from holding onto old identities, past failures, or false beliefs about ourselves. Yet through the grace of God, we have continual access to Him. As 2 Corinthians 3:18 teaches, we are being transformed into His likeness as we behold Him. The invitation is to pray with confidence, β€œLord, help me to see what You see in me,” and to allow Him to reshape our desires so that they become more like His.

The sermon also calls believers to leave behind the old ways of living. Referencing Colossians, Bien-Aime reminds us that walking in our new identity means putting to death our relationship with sin and intentionally removing ourselves from places and patterns that give sin access to our lives. This is not about striving for perfection, but about embracing the new wineskin that God has given usβ€”a life continually being renewed and prepared to walk with Jesus, both now and for eternity.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Subscribe to the ARC 2.0 channel to join our live Sunday services, stream our latest messages, and revisit your favourite sermons.Hit the Notification Bell so that you never miss an upload!ARC 2.0 is crowdfunding to restore our church building. Jesus, The Pharisee, and The Tax Collector | Mark 2:3-17 | Luke Peters

In this week’s sermon on the encounter between Jesus, the Pharisees, and the tax collector Levi, Luke Peters reflects on the tension between religious reputation and the transforming grace of Christ. The Pharisees questioned Jesus’ decision to associate with tax collectors because they viewed them as people who had compromised their allegiance, integrity, and witness by working for the Roman authorities. Their judgement was shaped by Levi’s reputation, believing that his occupation defined both his character and his loyalty.

The message reminds us that a person’s job does not automatically make them a sinner, but it does invite us to consider where our ultimate loyalty lies. The Pharisees were right to recognise corruption where it existed, yet they failed to see beyond the external labels they had placed on people. Jesus responded differently. Rather than avoiding those caught in sin and brokenness, He chose to sit with them, demonstrating that His mission was to bring healing and restoration. Christ never ignored sin, but He distinguished the sinner from the sin, extending grace while calling people into transformation.

Luke also highlights that meaningful relationships are often built side by side rather than face to face. Sharing everyday activities and finding common ground can create opportunities for genuine connection and discipleship. Just as Jesus met people where they were, believers are called to engage others with compassion, allowing relationships to become a pathway through which the love and truth of Christ are experienced.

β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”

Subscribe to the ARC 2.0 channel to join our live Sunday services, stream our latest messages, and revisit your favourite sermons.Hit the Notification Bell so that you never miss an upload!ARC 2.0 is crowdfunding to restore our church building. When Faith Carries You To Jesus | Mark 2:1-12 | Tayo Badru

In this week’s sermon on Mark 2:1–12, Elder Tayo reflects on the faith of the paralysed man and the friends who refused to let obstacles keep them from bringing him to Jesus. Their determination reminds us that real faith does not stop at difficulty but keeps moving until it reaches Christ. It also highlights the importance of Christian community, where we support one another and help carry each other closer to Jesus, especially in seasons when we cannot do it alone. This message also reveals that Jesus heals far more than what is visible. Before restoring the man’s body, Jesus forgave his sins, showing that He came to heal what is deepest and bring true liberation. As fully God and fully man, Jesus does what only God can do, and every work of healing becomes a testimony to His power, grace, and authority.β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”Subscribe to the ARC 2.0 channel to join our live Sunday services, stream our latest messages, and revisit your favourite sermons.Hit the Notification Bell so that you never miss an upload!ARC 2.0 is crowdfunding to restore our church building.
