"Inside _shift" - Andy Pag
<p>Inside _shift is a special bonus series recorded at Space Group’s annual _shift conference. It’s an event that brings together industry leaders and “empowered agents of change” to talk about how we can decarbonise the built environment and push the industry forward. This year, I was lucky enough to chat with some of the speakers and panellists, getting to hear their ideas, stories, and insights first hand.</p><p><br></p><p>In this episode, I’m joined by <strong>Andy Pag</strong>, eco-adventurer, award-winning freelance journalist and Corporate Speaker. Andy has a passion for sustainability and a love of alternative travel - including two years exploring the world in an old school bus powered entirely by used cooking oil. He’s turned unwanted materials into feats of engineering, led vehicle-based expeditions to remote corners of the globe, and experimented with innovative forms of travel, from a chocolate-powered lorry to the 'Grease to Greece' car rally.</p><p>An engineer by training, Andy combines his adventurous spirit with storytelling, winning awards such as a Royal Television Society Award for Best Documentary and a Silver for Best Documentary in the PPI Radio Awards. This year, I was lucky enough to chat with some of the speakers and panellists, getting to hear their ideas, stories, and insights first hand.</p><p>In this episode, I’m joined by <strong>Chris Hines MBE</strong>, a long-time sustainability campaigner and thought leader. Chris co-founded <strong>Surfers Against Sewage</strong> in the early ’90s and later served as Sustainability Director at the Eden Project, where he helped pioneer circular economy initiatives like “Waste Neutral.”</p><p>With over 30 years of environmental activism under his belt, Chris brings a wealth of experience to the discussion - from strategic leadership and communications to embedding sustainability deep into business practice. This year, I was lucky enough to chat with some of the speakers and panellists, getting to hear their ideas, stories, and insights first hand.</p><p>In this episode, I’m joined by <strong>Morgan Lewis</strong>, Director of <strong>Material Index</strong>, a reclaim material marketplace and digital audit platform. Morgan’s work focuses on circular economy services, including pre-demolition audits, material passports, and material exchanges, helping the construction industry make smarter, more sustainable use of resources.</p><p>An architect by training, Morgan has 15 years of experience in design, development, and construction technology, and studied at the University of Cambridge and Cooper Union in New York City.
