On this podcast, we sit down and listen to stories from current and past missionaries through converstations around the table. They share their stories of how they arrived on the mission field and things they experienced while there, as well the difficult aspects of serving, the joys of living on mission, and insights for how we can all support and get involved with missions from wherever we are.

8. Brendan and Melissa Holmquist: Brazil
Today, we sit down with the Holmquists who served as missionaries for 10 years, most of which was spent planting a church in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. They share openly and vulnerably about what led Brendan to a deep period of depression and burnout, how that affected their family, and how they submitted to God leading them back to the U.S.
They walk us through the faith challenges that came with leaving the mission field when they didn't want to, allowing God to lead them to a new season that was completely different than they had ever anticipated, and how walking through that period has given them a perspective in serving others in a way they wouldn't be able to otherwise.
