In vier afleveringen vertelt <em>In het Nauw</em> over deze onbekende geschiedenis en laat het leven van dichtbij in psychiatrisch instellingen zien. </p> <p>In de aflevering 'In de vuurlinie' vertellen twee voormalig medewerkers van Reinier van Arkel over het oorlogsgeweld dat de instellingen Reinier van Arkel (Den Bosch) en Voorburg (Vught) in 1944 raakte. Patiënten en verplegers bevonden zich midden in de vuurlinie en konden geen kant op.</p>

Hierin wordt de noodlottige evacuatie van patiënten van Dennenoord in Drenthe naar Franeker beschreven in het voorjaar van 1945. Tientallen patiënten kwamen hierbij om het leven.</p>

Ze vertellen over wat het verlies van hun familielid voor hun familie en henzelf betekende.</p>
