Ep.16 Belonging & Cultural Deconditioning with Jessica Lock

Happy Chinese New Year 🧧 and a warm welcome back to the podcast 🤲🏼. It feels so good to open the Lunar New Year with my conversation with Jes, who has since become one of my closest friends after we first met to record this episode. At the beginning of the episode, I open by discussing the elements of the Yin Wood Snake year through a grounded energetic lens, offering tips and reflective prompts on how to embody these qualities in daily life 🪵 🐍 In my conversation with Jes, we go deep into: ~ The obligatory self-sacrificial nature of our Chinese heritage and how it shapes burnout, proving, and validation cycles ~ The deep-seated equation of sacrifice = love ~ Creating personal tools and resources to check in with ourselves rather than relying on over-complicated, mind-focused external strategies ~ Repairing our relationship with our upbringing, families, and past selves ~ The illusion of a perfect measure for rest, relaxation, and ease ~ Where to look in our Human Design chart for a tendency toward relentless determination (even against unhelpful odds) ~ Our universal desire to feel seen and recognised, beyond what our charts indicate ~ Unpacking, reframing, and redefining the projection field and not-self anger as a 5/1 Manifestor (from my perspective) ~ The ecological network of transformation—how growth, deconditioning, and healing are never siloed experiences …and so much more!! Please subscribe, share, and review to support the show! We'd love to hear how this conversation landed for you. Happy Astrological New Year, as the Sun enters the sign of Aries 🌞 It was such a pleasure to sit with Agi last week to create this special Equinox, eclipse & astrological new year episode for you filled with practical tips & powerful insights. In this episode, Agi shares with us her very recent journey into motherhood and how she began reconnecting with herself and her inner guidance 8+ years ago through the help of a diverse range of energetic tools that she now shares with others. Agi was so generous to do a live tarot reading for us, shedding light on the energies of the year that’s passed, what we’re currently moving through and what’s ahead 🌀 It was very insightful to say the least - especially in relation to Aries, one of Selfhood, which is also the current nodal axis we are in - Aries North Node/Libra South Node - for the next 9 more months. We unpack these energies in the episode in detail and in depth! Whenever you arrive at this episode, trust that it is the right time. Ep.14 Falling in Love with Spoken Word & Poetry with Nathalie James

It was so special to get to dive behind the scenes with Poet & Spoken Word Artist Nathalie James in this episode. We go deep into her creative journey and experience leading up to performing at a poetry slam grand final at the end of 2023, where Nathalie shares how she courageously chose artistic integrity over abiding by competition rules and all the synchronistic twists and turns that led to her arriving on stage in the Spoken Word arena after a lifetime of writing (privately) and basking in the deep romance of words. Nathalie shares with us so much, from her ancestral connection with words, her writing process, to finding confidence in trusting herself and differentiating her voice from peers and mentors + much more! An episode not to be missed as we close out dreamy + poetic Pisces season this year! Enjoy our inspiring conversation and be sure to listen right through to take in Nathalie's very moving recitation of that very powerful 'too long' poem that left us both positively speechless and in tears. We wait eagerly to hear how our conversation touches you 🥲🌹 Please rate, review & subscribe wherever you listen to this podcast as it helps us to continue grow and expand in sharing our hearts' work. ABOUT NATHALIE Nathalie James is a poet and spoken word artist from Meanjin (Brisbane) Australia. Her words are infused with wanderlust, romance, and a call for rejecting the hustle to envision a slower, more deliberate way of being. In the latter part of 2023, Nathalie began writing and performing spoken word poetry for the first time. This quickly saw her sharing at slams, festivals and open mics including securing a spot in the grand final of her local poetry slam. Nathalie’s artistic intention is to write words that connect, inspire and remind us to never give up on what lights us up. She currently resides on the Sunshine Coast with an unruly cat and a notebook full of ideas for what’s next. Nathalie hopes her words fan the sparks of who you are into flames. Ep.12 Human Design Experimenting, Ego Deaths & Finding Empowerment with Chiara Christian

I’m so excited to finally share this incredibly powerful conversation I recorded with Chiara in early September. It holds so much truth-revealing power and impact that it has quite literally taken me/us this amount of integration time for it to move (burn) through our respective systems in preparation for its release. I guess that’s what happens when two very passionate sharp tongued Gemini Sun emotional authority heretics get unapologetically down and dirty to give voice to the very real, raw, vulnerable and courageous truths that go down behind ego death’s doors otherwise also commonly known as the Dark Night(s) of the Soul. What happens when we gain new insight that shocks, rattles and shatters our initial mind driven relationship with a system of thought that we have invested gallons of blood, sweat & tears in? What happens when we know we are uncontrollably hurtling towards boiling point and there is no escaping, because, after all, it takes water 100℃ to transform state just as it does any pattern within? What happens when we realise that we’ve squarely missed the point of what’s directly in front of us because we’re too busy trying to understand something using our minds with all our might? Chiara takes us on an in-depth maturation journey of her experiment with Human Design, how she surrendered to its art form from an initially more intellectual standpoint, to seeing beyond the limits and disempowerment of its transactionary literal application and all the epic realisations that arose in between. I’m not even going try list all the topics we touch on because just about every third sentence spoken is worthy of a mic-drop. Whether or not you resonate with Human Design as a modality/resource, the topics discussed can be applied as a relevant rigidity self-temperature check across all self-help/development practices, lineages, systems of thought, way of being and habitual modes of operation. I should also caution that this is nowhere near your stock standard vanilla ‘intro to human design’ ‘let’s break down all the energy types’ masterclass; it’s quite the contrary and I couldn’t have wished for a better, more aligned person to kickstart the conversation here on the podcast. Put on your mouthguard, hard hat and shin pads, or, get naked with us, you’re in for quite the spicy treat — if you dare 😉🔥🌶 Let us know how this lands, where it hits and what gets shaken free on the episode tile on the grid. Peace out ✌️ Please rate, review and subscribe wherever you listen to this podcast as it helps us grow, expand and continue to share these conversations and experiences. ABOUT CHIARA Chiara is an avid writer, mentor and guide with a gift of seeing into others and helping them identify areas of learned limitations and conditioning. Using Human Design as her main lens of seeing into others, Chiara is able to intuitively distill down and support others to identify, focus on and trust in their natural gifts and way of operating in the world. Chiara's experiential yet grounded way of navigating life naturally creates a safe space offering enormous compassionate permission in helping others return to a place and feeling of empowerment, deep trust, and inner knowing. Ep.11 Individuating, Intentional Will & Initiation of the Aries-Libra Nodal Axis with Jules Ferrari

After a deeply clarifying and restful Winter, I’m thrilled to open this new season sharing my conversation with Psychological & Evolutionary Astrologer Jules Ferrari — a fellow Gemini Sun and twelfth house moon native. Jules has such a beautifully poetic way with words and depth in translating collective energies and scholarly concepts through experiential yet grounded, practical language. We touch on such a variety of topics in this episode, so representative of our shared multidimensional, widely diverse Geminian nature. In more ways than one, without any prior orchestration, so much of what we discussed sums up many of the themes that I have personally been navigating (as an Aries North Node native) and I am confident will resonate with many. In this episode, we touch on: Individuating from echo-chambers Jules’ experience previously living within a religious group / ashram setting The Neophyte - Adept archetypal axis Paradox of ‘the Aquarian Age’ The role of structure, discipline and intentional will in the journey of our self becoming Importance of metabolising our experience within a concept, lens and practice before shouting about it from the rooftops Astrology as a divination tool for self discovery The current Aries-Libra nodal axis qualities, lessons and gifts for empowerment Art & Heart of the Graceful Warrior Balance between self and other in relationships Cultivating commitment, focus and self-leadership Importance of inviting more open-minded curiosity in our daily lives +++ so much more. I hope you thoroughly enjoy this deeply enriching episode. Let us know how our conversation has moved you. Happy Full Moon in Aries & the beginning of this potent, upcoming Eclipse Season! Big hugs & take care x ABOUT JULES Jules has been an astrologer for the past ten years and has received training via the Sydney Astrology School in Australia and the Centre for Psychological Astrology in the UK. She is also a member of the Astrological Association of Great Britain. Jules' background is varied, a testament to her 9th House Gemini Sun; she has a degree in art history and theory and worked as an arts writer and in the world of fine art auctions; she studied the Vedas at a seminary in West Bengal, astrophysics and relativity at the Sydney Observatory and played and has toured in bands in both Australia and California. Ep.10 Embracing Innocence in Creativity with Ben Wood

This episode will take you on a fun, enriching and engaging journey exploring the importance of nurturing our innocence when reconnecting with our creativity and expressing our creative essence. In our conversation, Ben and I explore the layers beneath the surface of the path in fulfilling a creative vision — in Ben’s case, one of the main drivers was to write the script of a TV show set in his hometown of Winnipeg, Canada. We discuss: the root contributors beneath the fear of appearing naive when embarking on a creative pursuit how to tap into that adolescent sense of innocence, courage and boldness akin to The Fool card in the Tarot whilst navigating the inner critic and self judgement preserving the quality and authenticity of our ideas and inspiration in its actualisation using the Akashic Records as a tool for reinforcing our intuitive nature storytelling as a powerful medium to transform our wounds into personal healing and empowerment transforming anxieties into opportunities when worries and future projections arise a different perspective on ego: E.G.O (Essence Getting Obstructed) vs S.E.L.F (Spirit Encouraged Life Force) how we attract external catalysts (ideas, clients, relationships, experiences) to help us course correct our motivations, intentions and life trajectory ….and so much more! Ep.8 More on Ancestral Healing, Our Motherline Journey & Cultural Deconditioning with Ruby Sheng Nichols (Part 2)

Welcome to Pisces Season! It’s such aligned timing to share Part 2 of my profound conversation with Ruby this week, especially with a sense of rebirth and renewal as we traverse the current astro- sky weather energies. We go deep in sharing what we have uncovered through understanding our motherlines and our individual ancestral healing experiences and the courageous actions we have both taken as a result. We both open up and share vulnerably our individual experiences as pattern-breakers within our family lines and the profound deep healing and empowerment that it has brought both to our lives and to others. This is such a big episode for me to release as Ruby invites me to share parts of my motherline discoveries that I share here publicly for the first time ❤️🩹 We discuss: - our journey from healing our mother wounds - the patterns we uncovered in studying our family lines - the fear of showing vulnerability - raising an empathic sensitive (male) child today - knowing when to and having the courage to break free from unsafe situations - learning to tune into nudges when they first appear in our awareness and our experience - guidance on trusting our intuition - the necessity of framework and structure as we rehabilitate our wounds and our deconditioning journey - softening of mental rigidity - the disempowering legacy of foot binding for Chinese women - and much more ! Ep.7 Why Are We So Afraid of Our Potential?

This week I’m excited to dive into a question I am very passionate about - both in supporting others in uncovering and awakening to theirs, as well as consistently moving the needle through my own growth experience. I share empowering anecdotal examples of how we can create seemingly immovable objects and experiences in our way as sabotage, as well as numerous analogies and metaphors to bring light to, simplify and deconstruct the energetics surrounding the fear that many of us face. If you’re in need of a powerful activation to catalyse change and action, this might just do the trick 😉🧨 Enjoy 🔌 Topics discussed: - our primal fear explained - debunking energetics of failure & success - energy debt vs energy banking - the role of responsibility & preparedness - frameworks of building self awareness & inviting fresh perspectives + much more! Ep.6 Cultural Heritage, Spiritual Awakening & Womanhood with Ruby Sheng Nichols (Part 1)

This week I’m honoured to have guest & trailblazer Ruby Sheng Nichols on the show, opening a very important conversation that sits very close to my heart — one of sharing space with fellow Asian women in how they found empowerment from our heritage, their unique homecoming journey, reconciliation with their motherline, and how that continues to shape their role, expression and experience as woman navigating the modern world honouring our roots. Ruby’s story does exactly that, which she shares so vulnerably and openly. We uncover so much of both our stories — including brand new mic-drop moments caught on air. We discuss: - Reckoning with our identity growing up an Asian woman in a Western culture - Effects of the pressure from feeling the need to maintain an all-is-fine facade - Dark night of the Soul through the motherhood initiation - Navigating emotional vulnerability, emotional expression and sensitivity - Guilt, shame and struggle around being ‘too sensitive’ - Recognising sensitivity as our superpower - Comparison & criticism as love through our Motherline - Conditioned societal and cultural belief and mindset that being a woman is a ‘weakness’ - How our life’s design, family and upbringing shapes the medicine that we share with the world - Past life remembering and healing of our next generation - Reframing womanhood as a privilege Enjoy the first part of our deeply moving conversation and stay tuned for Part 2 (https://open.spotify.com/episode/3pBoVB24lxEe5SMU5Wo6wl?si=14747439a0a145ab) in the coming weeks! Ep.5 Personal Homecoming, Family Reunion & Welcome to February

WELCOME BACK! After a 3 month hiatus, Arriving Here is back with fresh energy, refreshed approach & refined momentum for 2023 💫 Join Jamie as she catches up on major epiphanies following a period of deep clarification and release, indirectly leading to the close of a thirty year (!) cycle. What follows is a story on the most beautifully touching reunion with family over Chinese New Year, resulting in a major milestone healing and renewing family togetherness & sense of belonging after feeling mostly like the outsider, an outcast and the black sheep for so many years 🥲 Jamie shares openly her journey in honouring one's energy capacity, the importance of allowing and trusting the time required to land in one's pace, rhythm and voice amidst internal and external pressures and tending to immediate seemingly unrelated murkiness to create space for greater clarity, sustainability and efficiency in the long run. She also shares empowerment learnings and flow-on effects from her recent re-emergence in teaching kundalini yoga & meditation infused with wisdom from the Akashic Records + so much more. Included is also an oracle reading with insights into February's energies and the year ahead from Kim Kran's Archetype Deck (https://www.kimkrans.com/books-and-decks). Ep.4 Oracle for Transformation - Eclipse Edition

In this episode, I open the Akashic Records for the listeners of this podcast. Also included is an oracle card reading which connects so intricately to the message received from the Records. In case you're new here, the Akashic Records is like the iCloud metaphysical library of all of our souls' histories, experiences and emotions. When I tap into the collective Records, it's like a direct line to the energy of ALL listeners' souls (or Higher Selves). It transcends time and space so whenever you tune into this trust it is the right time for you. It may look like a short episode but packs a good Scorpionic punch to guide, support and perhaps serve as a gentle nudge for revelation through one of the most transformative season and time of year. Tune in, open and receive. May it serve you in the highest. Ep.3 What If There Were No Rules?

Join me on another solo episode recorded deep into the night when the moon was last in Scorpio. I reflect deeply upon welcomed changes to different aspects of life having stepped away from all kinds of group-think and group-speak, how it has positively affected my relationships and friendships and how much more relaxed life feels when lived organically. I share vulnerably and make light on the ways I entered these containerised group spaces and group-think modality-tanks searching for rules to lead life by, how I ended up using these systemised methods of understanding self as yet another stringent yardstick to measure (or in my case, berate) life’s experiences, quality, success and fulfilment and how limiting it eventually became. On that note, I outline the different rehabilitation stages of healing and the necessary use of temporary scaffolding structures to support and guide our homecoming, with a timely reminder to not lose one’s identity, worth and personhood in the rabbit hole of trying, proving, searching and fixing. I also share candidly about my longtime childhood love of nighttime for clarity of thought and my continual unfolding journey navigating life guided more and more by intuition, trust and relaxed intention. If we spend our whole life prepping, when are we actually going to live it? Enjoy part 1 of 2 of this late night recorded conversation ! Ep.2 Tiramisu, Power Outage, the Akashic Records & Self-Trust

Happy Full Moon in Pisces! I am so excited to be sharing this today as it was exactly twelve moons ago since my very first ever podcast interview got aired! In this solo episode, I pick up on where I left off from Ep 1 on stepping intentionally back from rigidity, discipline and consistency. I touch on the Akashic Records, reflections of my journey there, past-life fears of being persecuted for speaking (read: burnt at the stake) and how a resurgence and accumulation of mental loop patterns culminated into a potent yet hilariously synchronistic half-day power outage experience that transformed my energy from serious doubt and frustration into clarity. Spoiler alert: car rego plates make a resounding feature, and so does tiramisu! Open your hearts, your minds, and laugh along on my comedic relationship with life. Enjoy this episode! Ep.1 Starting a Podcast - An Ode to Breaking Through in Voice

Welcome to the first episode of Arriving Here! Jamie is joined by a dear friend and producer extraordinaire Dylan Prins to share this opening conversation on how we finally arrived to putting this podcast together, resistances to start, and an in-depth unpacking of pivotal realisations and reflections along the way. This episode touches on: Using and sharing one’s voice through this new platform Cultural & Asian migrant connections and expectations Taking space from interacting with institutionalised / systemised / predictive modalities and overly rigid / disciplined ways of application Questioning and reframing being in devotional and selfless service The importance of taking intentional pause from group-think and group-speak to gain a different perspective It’s such a fun episode. Share in our many laughs, mic-drop moments caught on air and the general comedic flair between us which opens this show beautifully. Enjoy!
