Creativity as an Embodied Spiritual Practice (AAT2 EP2)

In this episode of Art As Therapy, we explore the deep relationship between creativity, the body, and the human spirit. Creativity is often viewed only as a skill or profession, but in reality it can be a powerful path to healing, reflection, and personal transformation. Our guest, Alexandra Beller, is a choreographer, director, and somatic educator whose work explores how art can become a space for deep listening, vulnerability, and discovery. We discuss the idea of creativity as an embodied practice — one that requires trust, curiosity, and the courage to create without always knowing the final outcome. During this conversation, we talk about how artists can navigate uncertainty, why living inside questions can produce more meaningful work than chasing answers, and how somatic practices can help creatives reconnect with their bodies and creative voice. Alexandra also shares insights from her experience directing Macbeth for a veterans’ theatre company, where classical theater became a powerful tool for healing and processing lived experiences. This episode is especially meaningful for artists, creatives, and anyone interested in understanding how creativity can serve as a bridge between art, healing, and personal growth. If you have ever experienced creative doubt, emotional struggle, or moments of feeling disconnected from your creative voice, this conversation offers thoughtful insights and encouragement to trust the process and embrace the unknown. Light & Shadow: Lessons From the Contrast (AAT)

Nothing exists without contrast. Light needs shadow to be seen, just as growth often comes from our darkest moments. In this episode, I reflect on how working in grayscale taught me powerful lessons about life, creativity, and self-acceptance. Through the language of light and shadow, I explore how limitations shape identity, why darkness sharpens vision, and how contrast gives meaning to both art and life. This episode is for creatives learning to embrace their struggles, find beauty in imperfection, and understand that even shadows have purpose.

   The Weight of Perfection (AAT)

In this deeply personal episode, Mac Moses Michael opens up about one of the quietest struggles every artist faces — the pursuit of perfection. Through the lens of his grayscale art, Mac reflects on how the constant chase to make every line flawless can slowly drain the joy out of creation. He shares intimate moments from his own journey — the frustration of overworking a portrait, the fear of imperfection, and the quiet realization that art doesn’t need to be perfect to be powerful. This episode is a soft, honest reminder that perfection isn’t the goal — connection is. That the cracks, the uneven light, and the imperfect strokes often carry more emotion than the parts we polish endlessly. Whether you’re a digital artist, photographer, or creative of any kind, The Weight of Perfection will speak to the part of you that’s ever felt not enough — and remind you that authenticity will always outshine flawlessness. 🎧 Listen, breathe, and let go of the pressure to be perfect. Because in art — and in life — it’s the honesty that heals. #ArtAsTherapy #GrayscaleArt #DigitalArtPodcast #ArtHealing #CreativeJourney #MentalHealth #Perfectionism #ArtPodcast #PhotoshopArt #Kre8tivePen

Light in the Shadows – How Drawing Helped Me Manage Stress (AAT)

In this episode of Art As Therapy, Mac opens up about how working in grayscale became more than just an artistic choice — it became a form of emotional healing. Through the quiet process of sketching in Photoshop, guided by references and shaped by light, he found a way to manage stress and rediscover calm. Each stroke, each highlight, became a metaphor — a reminder that even in the darkest places, light still finds its way through. This isn’t just a conversation about art; it’s a reflection on balance, patience, and the beauty that emerges when you learn to paint through the shadows instead of avoiding them. ✨ Whether you’re an artist, a creator, or simply someone searching for peace in your own process, this episode will help you see light — not just as brightness, but as healing. 🎙️ Listen to Light in the Shadows now on Art As Therapy. #ArtAsTherapy #MentalHealth #DigitalArt #PhotoshopArt #GrayscaleArt #HealingThroughArt
