This place has witnessed not only the courtlysecrets of Henry VIII and his lovers but also quietly recorded the traces ofordinary people who live here. These individuals, whether servants or guards,lived in the dilapidated corners of the castle, yet upheld the grandeur of theentire palace. They made their living here, struggling for life or love. In thegrand narrative of history, their voices may seem insignificant. However, it isin these barely audible stories that we continue to see reflections ofourselves today.</p><p>In this episode, we start with a visit to Hampton Court Palace and itsgardens, talking to Jiahong Xu, our guest speaker today, and her attempt ofgamified museum tours in London. As we traverse the museum halls, we try tobreak the barriers of glass cases with scripts, making stories a bridge betweenexhibits and our lives. vol.9 UCL的多重世界，大学的幽灵学 UCL Worlds, Hauntology in University
<p>大学，知识生产的中心，同样也是无数都市传说和浪漫传奇的缔造者，其血脉通过个体流淌着。好像霍格沃茨学院里的常驻幽灵，我们的大学也是幽灵盘踞的地方，只是我们也说不清他们来自过去还是从未来归来？是学生的身份，或是不起眼的一块砖瓦、树木。</p><p>本期播客由伦敦大学学院的老包带领大家，穿越UCL和IOE的校园和历史，探看一间大学的多重世界，看它怎么定义21世纪20年代的大学模式？通过200周年校庆项目，老包研究了1920-1930年代里中国留学生的活动和当地的生活：他们也一样有着学联的组织，以会馆会客，请到颇有影响力的人物。但这些有头有脸的历史大人物，何不也曾是留学生的身份？</p><p>我们以学生的身份化作幽灵造访过去——学生生活影响着整个城市的格局和变迁；而当下困扰我们的幽灵，那些的阴魂不散，正是未来的自己——试问，是谁在拥有大学校园？谁的点点滴滴书写和串起了我们耳熟能详的故事？</p><p>Universities, centres of knowledgeproduction, are also fertile grounds for urban legends and romantic tales, withtheir essence flowing through the individuals who inhabit them today. Much likethe resident ghosts of Hogwarts, our universities are haunted, though it's hardto say whether these spirits hail from the past or have returned from thefuture. They might take the form of a student's identity, an unnoticed brick,or a tree on campus.</p><p>In this episode, Yuehanjiang Bao, Ph.D.candidate from University College London (UCL) guides us on a journey throughthe campuses and histories of UCL and the Institute of Education (IOE),exploring the multiple faces of a university. How does it define the model of a21st-century institution? As part of UCL’s bicentennial project, we study the lives of Chinese students inthe 1920s-1930s, who might have changed the world. Yet, these prominenthistorical figures were once just students themselves.</p><p>As we revisit the past in the guise ofstudents, we see how student life has shaped the city’s landscape and evolution. Meanwhile, theghosts that haunt us today—the lingering ones—are actually versions of our future selves.
