Art, Music, Poetry & Creative Freedom with Sean BW Parker | Artist Antics with April
In this wide-ranging, wildly creative, and deeply human episode, we sit down with Sean BW Parker, an artist, writer, musician, poet, and one of the most genuinely disruptive creative voices coming out of the UK today. Based on the Sussex coast, Sean has spent a lifetime doing the thing most creatives only dream about: refusing to be contained by a single discipline, a single medium, a single meaning, or a single story. After earning his MA in Fine Art from the University for the Creative Arts, Sean spent a decade living and working in Istanbul, teaching cultural studies, performing with bands, curating festivals, and building the kind of cross-cultural perspective that doesn't come from a classroom. Back on British soil, he founded and ran the Seafish arts and music venue on the West Sussex coast, kept writing, kept painting, and kept pushing against every comfortable definition of what an artist is supposed to be. His paintings, rendered in watercolor, acrylic, ink, coffee, and pencil, fuse surrealism, neo-impressionism, and deconstructed cubism to capture the essence of subjects beyond literal representation. His words land with equal force: he has contributed to Time Out Istanbul, Louder Than War, God Is In The TV, Inside Time, and many more and his outspoken "State of the Arts" stance makes no apologies for putting humanity at the center of every conversation about culture. And then there's the personal dimension that runs beneath all of it. A lifelong stammer that became the subject of one of the most-watched TED talks on the internet about stammering and creativity, and a trained Samaritans listener and mental health mentor who brings lived resilience into everything he creates. 🎨 Sean BW Parker is not just making art, he is making an argument for what art can be when it refuses to behave. In this conversation, Sean invites us into:His journey across painting, poetry, music, and cultural theory, and why the through line has always been truth over conventionTen years in Istanbul and how living between cultures rewired his creative instincts and artistic voiceHis painting practice: the materials, the neo-impressionist and cubist-influenced approach, and how he chooses his subjects to creationHis "State of the Arts" philosophy — what unfiltered, humanity-first art actually looks like in practiceHis prolific output: published books, five-plus albums, a debut poetry collection, and his new compilation The Believe YearsWhat stammering taught him about creativity, vulnerability, and the courage it takes to speak and be a maker✨ Sean's story is a powerful reminder that the most radical creative act is simply refusing to stop across every medium, every challenge, and every attempt at definition.👇 Don't forget to LIKE, COMMENT, and SUBSCRIBE to hear more inspiring conversations with artists who share their creative journeys and the stories behind their work.Support the channel – https://pay.artistanticswithapril.comYour support helps amplify these essential creative voices.🖼️ Connect with Sean BW Parker:🌐 Saatchi Art – saatchiart.com/seanbwparker📖 Substack – substack.com/@seanbwparkerSpotify - https://open.spotify.com/artist/54AfbvLmprsXNalXs2xUJi?si=HR43R_AnQL-oWTgW9sp0Hg Sean's Recent Book - Magnolia Graffiti: Amazon.co.uk: Parker, Sean Bw: 9798171843779: Books🎙️ Host April Paige:🌐 Website – www.AprilPaige.com📸 Instagram – @april_paige_fine_art📧 Email – artistanticswithapril@gmail.com📘 Facebook – April Paige Fine Art▶️ YouTube – @AprilPaige-AAWA📱 Call/Text – 941-586-6550#ArtistAnticsWithApril #SeanBWParker #MultidisciplinaryArtist #StateOfTheArts #ArtAndPoetry #KoestlerArts #WatercolourArt #CulturalTheory #StammeringAndCreativity #TEDTalk #BritishArtist #MentalHealthAndArt #CreativeResilience #CreativeConversations #ArtistsOnYouTube
