About Artists Rising

"The opposite of depression is EXPRESSION" - Dr. Edith Eger ARTISTS RISING is about RISING UP through the discovery and re-discovery of our creativity. It is about healing and transformation through the cultivation of creativity and through creating thoughts and emotions that will be the canvas, the foundation...of our masterpiece, our best life. I believe everyone is creative, we are born that way, but we forget, and we conform and get covered up. Creativity is a recovery process. It's the road home we are all searching for. Stepping into the flow of creativity is stepping into healing, and it's stepping into an encounter with the most sacred version of your truest self… it's connecting with the divine and most powerful life force that exists. Created with community, storytelling and wholehearted artistic development in mind, singer-songwriter (and recovering classical musician) JennyRebecca Ronning, sits down with people who inspire her and teaches on topics she wished she would have known more about as a younger artist - specifically things we don't tend to learn in art schools and music conservatories like mental and emotional health, how to cultivate creativity and how to invite people along on your creative journey and turn your passion into a business or a community, if that is what you desire. No matter what stage of life you are in - whether you are a seasoned artist or just beginning to tap into your creativity - we all need reminding about how to step into that flow...how to realize that place as our home, and how to navigate the blocks and resistance that try to keep us disconnected. Strengthening Your Inner World: Practicing Love When Fear is Loud

🎙 Artists Rising Strengthening Your Inner World: Practicing Love When Fear is Loud with Rachel Haimovitch (Rachel Eve) What does it actually mean to choose love over fear—not just as an idea, but as a lived, embodied practice? In this episode of Artists Rising, we explore the inner landscape of fear, resilience, and conscious choice with Rachel Haimovitch—a licensed professional counselor and music therapist based in Philadelphia, and a deeply expressive singer-songwriter who releases music under the name Rachel Eve. I first met Rachel through my Songtober Songwriting Challenge, and later had the joy of working with her inside The Songwriters Studio at Artists Rising Co. What immediately stood out to me was her rare ability to bridge clinical insight and creative depth—to understand both the science of our inner world and the artistry of how we live it. Together, we dive into what's really happening in our minds and bodies when fear takes over—and how we can begin to shift, moment by moment, into a more grounded, loving way of being. 🌱 In this episode, we explore: What happens in the brain and body when we operate from fear Why fear feels automatic—and love often feels like a conscious choice How to recognize subtle fear patterns, even in high-functioning or "successful" people The role of shame, self-awareness, and emotional resilience Practical tools to regulate your nervous system in real time How to interrupt fear spirals without bypassing your emotions What self-compassion actually looks like in practice How our thoughts shape the "masterpiece" of our lives The connection between creativity, healing, and rewriting identity Why play is essential—especially in difficult seasons How fear impacts our relationships and how to respond with love The role of boundaries in building healthy, loving connections How to stay grounded in a world that often feels overwhelming 🎨 A central question of this conversation: If our lives are works of art, what are we creating through our thoughts, our patterns, and our choices? And more importantly— what does it look like to create from love, even when fear is loud? 🌍 Why this conversation matters right now We're living in a moment where anxiety, uncertainty, and polarization are high. Many of us are asking: How do I stay open without becoming overwhelmed? How do I respond to fear—my own and others'—without shutting down or reacting? How do I live with courage and integrity in a world that feels unstable? Rachel brings a grounded, compassionate perspective to these questions—reminding us that inner work is not separate from the world we live in… it shapes it. 🌟 About Rachel Rachel Haimovitch is a licensed professional counselor and music therapist based in Philadelphia. She integrates psychological insight with creative practice to help people navigate emotional complexity, build resilience, and reconnect with themselves. She is also a gifted singer-songwriter who creates music under the name Rachel Eve, bringing the same depth and emotional honesty into her artistry. 🎧 Bonus Episode If this conversation resonated with you, there's a deeper dive available in the bonus episode, where we explore: How collective fear shapes our relationships Why fear is often contagious—and how it spreads relationally Practical tools to stay grounded when others are dysregulated How to consciously respond with love instead of reacting from fear You can listen to the bonus episode here: 👉 www.patreon.com/jennyrebecca  (http://www.patreon.com/jennyrebecca) For more info about Artists Rising go to: www.ArtistsRisingCo.com To join the Spring Songwriting Challenge visit: www.ArtistsRisingCo.com/SpringSong Follow @iamjennyrebecca and @artistsrisingco for more creative inspo!

Choosing Love in a Fear-Saturated World: How to Stay Connected to Your Heart When Everything is Screaming Danger

Welcome to Season 6 of the Artists Rising Podcast! Before we begin today, I want to take a moment to share why this podcast is evolving — and really, why it's returning to something that's been in my heart for a long time. This past fall, we traveled to Lesvos, Greece, and volunteered at a refugee camp there. And while we were there, I led somatic singing workshops for Afghan women. Sitting in those rooms — with women who had lost homes, countries, family members, certainty — something in me shifted. Because what I witnessed, again and again, was this: expression is not a luxury. It's a lifeline. These women didn't come in calling themselves artists. They came in as human beings carrying unimaginable weight. And through breath, sound, and song, I watched nervous systems soften. I watched shoulders drop. I watched people come back into their bodies — and back into connection. That experience was a turning point for me. It clarified something I've known for a long time: Artists Rising was never just about art. It's always been about wholeness. It's always been about helping people live from love instead of fear — whether that expression takes the form of a song, a painting, a business, a classroom, or simply the way you show up in your life. Since then, this winter, as we've been on concert tour, I've also been offering workshops along the way — at universities, with students and faculty, and with organizations working directly with refugees. And everywhere I go, I'm hearing the same need echoed back to me. Especially right now — with everything happening in the world — we all need tools. Tools to regulate our nervous systems. Tools to come back into our bodies. Tools to choose love when fear is loud. So moving forward, Artists Rising will continue to serve artists with a capital A — those of you creating careers, projects, and lives through your art. And it will also serve anyone who is willing to see their life as a creative act. We'll share practices, stories, and conversations that support both — because at the end of the day, the work is the same. This is about remembering that you are an artist. That your life is your canvas. And that learning to live in love is the most important creative practice there is. TODAY'S EPISODE is about Choosing Love in a Fear-Saturated World: How to stay tender and connected to your heart when everything is screaming danger.
