Ask the Angel with Rachel Corpus, October 13, 2026
Ask the Angel with Rachel Corpus A Live Paranormal Investigation of the Historic Gabriel House with Shade Rachel Corpus broadcasts live from the haunted Gabriel House in Des Moines with her husband Ed and artist-intuitive Shade, testing paranormal tools and tracing the mansion's history ahead of an overnight investigation fundraiser. Broadcasting From a Haunted House Rachel Corpus opens the broadcast with a wink, warning listeners that if the signal glitches tonight it might be the unusual Wi-Fi or it might be the ghosts, because the show is originating live from the historic Gabriel House in Des Moines, in the Union Park neighborhood near the Des Moines River. She explains that she and her husband, Ed, once lived in another haunted historic home and promises that story for another night. Tonight's focus is the Gabriel House itself, and she introduces her friend Shade, an artist and intuitive who has produced art shows at the house and now works with owner David Barzen on events, including ghost investigations. Corpus tells callers lighting up her phone that she will not be taking calls this week, asking for grace, and teases an overnight live-streamed investigation of the house's basement and attic, nicknamed the witch's hat, planned as a fundraiser later in the month. Paranormal Tools and the REM-Pod Behind Corpus and Shade sits a rocking chair holding a REM-Pod, a device that lights up when a spirit's energy disturbs its field, and Corpus demonstrates it for listeners while asking any presence in the room to touch it. Ed arrives from work and shows off his newest gadget, a parabolic microphone that gathers sound from across a room and feeds it into Corpus's Yeti microphone so any spirit voice would be heard on air. Corpus also displays a K-II meter, which flashes with electromagnetic activity and doubles as a way to rule out ordinary electronics, and a spirit box, which scans radio frequencies so that spirits can allegedly borrow the static to form words. She says the spirit box will mostly wait for the planned overnight investigation because of how loud it is, but promises listeners a taste of it later in the broadcast once the historical background of the house is covered. The Gilded Age Lumber Baron's House Corpus walks through what she has learned about the Gabriel House, built in 1890 for Rees Gabriel, described as the lumber baron of Iowa for owning thirty-seven lumber yards and supplying materials across the state. Gabriel bought architectural plans from the George Barber Company of Knoxville, Tennessee, then hired another firm to add extra closets and the turret room Shade calls the witch's hat. Corpus wonders aloud whether the tower was built simply to watch the Des Moines River or, since 1890 sat squarely in the age of spiritualism, to hold séances, noting that houses of that era sometimes used round rooms because, as Shade puts it, spirits cannot hide in a corner. Corpus names Gabriel's wife, Jennie Brewer Gabriel, and their four daughters, Jennie, Grace, Myrtle and Blanche, while admitting she could not find much about Gabriel's personal character beyond his evident attention to detail and business. A Dark Entity Named Hiccup Shade shares a story a former roommate told her about the bedroom where she and Corpus are now sitting. One past resident lived in that room while another man spent most of his time in the basement, widely assumed to be doing drugs, though he insisted he was instead saving souls by communicating with a dark entity he called Hiccup. Shade says the roommate found strange, hand-painted numbered bricks on the basement floor, apparently marking the souls that man believed the entity had claimed, lettering that looks playful and modern rather than like a craftsman's signature. Corpus says she senses the basement has absorbed decades of amateur séances and Ouija board sessions dating to the nineteen-sixties, calling it an open door that can let something in. She says she is

Ask the Angel with Rachel Corpus Shadow Work, Rage Rituals, and Getting Back Into the Body with Melodie Polanski Rachel Corpus answers a listener's question from Sarah in Boise, Idaho, about whether ongoing inner work is healing her or only digging up more old wounds. Energy alchemist Melody Polanski joins to talk about shadow work, rage rituals, EFT tapping, and the body as a place where emotions are stored. Sarah's Question and Opening Reflections Rachel Corpus opens the hour by reading a question from Sarah in Boise, Idaho, who has done a lot of inner work but wonders whether she is digging up more emotional material instead of actually healing. Corpus says the angels remind her that everyone already holds the answers and simply needs to remember them, and she suggests that a guest who works closely with emotion and the body might help. She introduces Melody Polanski, an energy alchemist who has worked with energy for about twenty years and brings together violet flame, Reiki, reflexology, acupressure, massage, sound healing, hypnotherapy and empowerment coaching. Corpus describes Polanski's work as helping people get underneath old wounds and patterns, release what no longer serves them, and reconnect with who they are. Polanski thanks her for having her, and Corpus says she felt a whoosh of brightness when the guest arrived. Fragments, Dis-ease, and the Rage Beneath Polanski explains that when she goes deep into healing, old memories surface at random, shaped by a fragmented childhood marked by trauma, and she has learned there is no final point where everything is finished. She says the goal is to stay present, integrate the work, and make friends with the shadow rather than pushing it down. Polanski names what usually hides beneath those layers, especially for women: anger and a little bit of rage, often built up from years of saying yes when they wanted to say no. She calls the buildup dis-ease, a broad word for anything that left a person uneasy. Corpus asks what lies under her own rage, which she once felt while looking at a picture of a beautiful woman in a corset, and Polanski answers that everything comes back to unconditional love for ourselves and for the people who put pain on us. The source transcript is garbled in places here, so Polanski's full description of wholeness is hard to follow. Rage Rituals and Safe Containers Polanski describes rage rituals she has done, including screaming into rivers and throwing the temper tantrum she never had as a child, and Corpus recalls breaking objects in a safe container she calls sacred rage. Polanski admits her first ritual frightened her, so she worked through three rounds with a playlist, rising and falling with the music while punching pillows, kicking her bed and head banging, until she was laughing at herself. She says the ritual ends the way a child's tantrum does, with deep breaths, a snack and a snuggle. Corpus connects this to the lack of healthy models for anger, from films like The Purge to the early-years teaching phrase "use your words." Polanski adds that many women were raised to be good little girls who swept things under the rug, so expressing anger feels frightening, and her biggest fear is hurting someone with it. Corpus notes that she kicks things and is loud when alone at home, without having seen it as releasing rage. Tapping, Body Work, and Integration Polanski helps people get back into their bodies, because divided attention leaves everything stuck above the shoulders. Her sessions begin with touch, breath and questions about where an emotion sits in the body, and she may guide someone to soften a feeling by a small amount, or to picture its size, shape or texture rather than retelling the story. Corpus asks her to demonstrate EFT tapping, and Polanski taps the top of her head, forehead, eyebrows, under the eyes, the area between nose and lip, collarbone, arm and fingertips while repeating affirmations such as "I am enough

Learn more about Melissa and her work at Melissa-Devine.com. P.S. Ed is all good- just getting older and realizing that. Rachel Corpus welcomes longtime friend and psychic Melissa Devine to answer a listener's question about whether shadow work sabotages manifestation, tracing Devine's path from trauma and addiction to founding her own Devine Alchemy Activation Method and High Priestess training. Ed's Health Scare and Gemma's Question Rachel Corpus opens the show explaining last week's episode was a replay because her husband Ed was not feeling well and made an unplanned trip to the emergency room for a CT scan that came back fine. She reflects that doctors increasingly attribute new aches to simply getting older, and reframes the moment as an invitation to keep tending the body and to navigate life differently rather than accept decline as inevitable. Turning to tonight's topic, she reads a listener question from Gemma in Duvall, Washington, who says she has been doing intense shadow work and wonders whether the heavy energy she is uncovering affects what she manifests, or whether she is overthinking it. Corpus explains shadow work as looking at whatever has been tucked away in the subconscious, like items stored in a closet, and promises that tonight's guest, someone who has manifested dramatic results throughout her own life, will help answer Gemma directly. Introducing Melissa Devine Rachel Corpus introduces her guest, Melissa Devine, a Sacred's Path spiritual teacher, energy practitioner, international psychic, and creator of the Devine Alchemy Activation Method, who blends manifestation, shadow work, energy healing, ritual, and esoteric wisdom and guides students through High Priestess training. Corpus recalls that the two met about eight years ago when Devine came to her for a past-life reading and was later told she would appear on the radio show, a prediction that came true multiple times at pivotal moments, including when Devine first told her untold story and again after she published a book about it. Devine greets Corpus warmly, calling this their "eight-year journey," and Corpus explains that a viewer's question about manifesting arrived just as she felt spirit nudging her to reach out to Devine again, setting up tonight's conversation about how manifestation actually works. Manifesting Through Self-Worth and Limiting Beliefs The conversation turns to Devine's own manifesting history, including quickly attracting a sixty-thousand-dollar laser for her aesthetician business and later choosing to move that business into her home, a shift she frames as expansion rather than failure. Devine describes learning to let wealthy clients into her modest household without embarrassment, calling it a lesson in claiming authenticity. Corpus connects this to her own experience hosting high-profile clients despite a modest rented home, and Devine explains that any negative vibration, like em
