I was born and raised in the “The Show Me” state aka “The Lou”—St. Louis, Missouri. I have an associate degree and a bachelor’s degree from Ranken Technical College in Construction Design and Management, and I proudly served 5 years 9 months and 27 days in the United States Navy as an electrician. After being honorably discharged, I was accepted into the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local One. I worked as a commercial electrician for IBEW Local One for 17 years. Later I went on to expand my career as an electrician with St. Louis County Government where I am now an Electrical Inspector, with 33 years of experience in the trade. I am passionate about safeguarding the construction projects of my community by enforcing the minimum requirements of the National Electrical Code (NEC). I find my expertise and experience beneficial while collaborating with electrical contractors, enabling their success in the completion of projects. I love mentoring and helping electrical contractors figure out what code articles apply to their unique projects. My hobbies are continuous education throughout the year and attending sporting events. I love LEARNING anything new, the UFL St. Louis Battlehawks, and my all-time favorite – “The St. Louis Cardinals.” I also enjoy spending time with my family and traveling around the world with them. I count it a privilege to offer my electrical experience and skills to listeners and callers by answering code questions and encouraging those questions during this new adventure—Ask the Lady Electrical Inspector podcast.

In this episode of the Ask the Lady Electrical Inspector Podcast, Tabatha L. explains how Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) evaluate electrical permit cancellation requests. Learn why permits are non-transferable, when an inspection may be required, what happens when work has already been performed, how outstanding corrections affect permit closure, and what documentation should accompany a written request. Passing Electrical Inspection: Why Listed and Labeled Electrical Equipment Matters

In this episode of Ask the Lady Electrical Inspector, host Tabatha L. explains why listed and labeled electrical equipment matters when it comes to passing electrical inspections and avoiding costly construction delays. Designed for electrical contractors, installers, project managers, owners, designers, and anyone involved in commercial construction, this episode breaks down what inspectors look for when evaluating pre-wired equipment, electrical furniture, modular workstations, hotel headboards, retail kiosks, mobile kitchens, dental equipment, medical spa fixtures, and other factory-built electrical assemblies. You’ll learn how Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories, product listings, certification labels, field evaluations, manufacturer documentation, and Authority Having Jurisdiction approval all work together to support electrical safety and code compliance. The episode also shares practical inspection lessons from the field, including why individually listed components may not be enough when the complete electrical assembly has not been evaluated as a system. Whether you work on offices, hotels, schools, hospitals, restaurants, salons, theaters, retail spaces, or prefabricated commercial equipment, this episode will help you identify potential compliance problems early, ask better questions before equipment is purchased, and reduce the risk of failed inspections, rework, and project delays.
