He was a Senior Research Scientist and leader of the advanced materials research area of Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology (SLINTEC) before. His major research area is the synthesis of nanomaterials for industrial, environmental, and medical applications using cheap raw materials including naturally occurring minerals such as dolomite, calcite, apatite, ilmenite, monazite, iron-bearing minerals, zircon, and graphite. So far, he has developed many novel simple, and economical techniques to synthesize nanomaterials for various applications. He is also working on the fabrication of nano-architectured super-hydrophobic and oil-repellent surfaces.</p>
