Colorism Allegations, White House Shenanigans & Black Media to Watch
Astute Observations is back for 2026! We’re talking internet controversy, White House press drama and what’s worth watching.
First, the KWN colorism controversy. Her comments about Keke Palmer, the Kehlani dating rumors and a social media explanation that left plenty of room for interpretation. The internet has a verdict. I’ve got one, too.
Then, the White House press pool drama, major news organizations pushing back on restrictions and the administration’s state-run media proposal. Is it about controlling the narrative, a money-making opportunity or a little bit of both? Let’s get into it.
And to close things out, three Black media recommendations for your watchlist, including; If I Go Will They Miss Me. J. Alphonse Nicholson may have made it to some other recommendations for new content too.
Current events, pop culture, media and a few astute observations. Welcome back, ya'll.

Intro to the Poetry Series: poems from my book, As American as Sweet Potato Pie
Get your poetry aura together, pretend we’re at the spoken word joint and let’s vibe. This first piece is entitled, A Whole Woman. Too often I’ve seen people ppl bringing open wounds and battle scars into their next relationship instead of reflecting, meditating and taking their time to heal. So instead of bringing broken pieces of self into this, bring me a whole woman 😉 This is also a nod to our Chicago slang: a WHOLE woman. Check it out.
