Legalism is really just another name for pride. When we’re “doing well” in our own eyes, our flesh wants to look down on others. But we could never live righteously enough to earn God’s favor and love! Even on our best days, we’re depraved and rebellious sinners. That’s why grace is so vital! Pastor Tom will remind us today that we are saved by grace alone! We can’t scoff at others! We were no different before Christ! So let’s boldly proclaim the grace of Jesus to this world that so desperately needs it!

Jesus made a way for you to be forgiven of all your sins and shortcomings, so you could have a home in Heaven for eternity. The only way to get it is to believe in Him and turn from your sins once you confess them. As you'll hear today with Pastor Tom, it's not based on anything you've done. Just being a good person, or being generous to others, isn't enough. It takes faith that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead for you, and that God WILL let you into Heaven for eternity because you've been forgiven.

Do you pray for those who are in leadership? Do you pray that those in authority in your local area follow God's will, and that they'd be godly leaders? Or do you complain about their decisions without considering that God is the one Who put them there in the first place? Rather than complain about your leaders over you, pray for them that they'd represent God in their position.

I’m a habitual speeder, and I don’t really think about how gracious cops are until one pulled me over but let me off with a warning. That’s when I realized that my actions have a consequence, but they were sparing me. I’m terribly allergic to mold, so it hits me harder than most others. I can’t imagine dealing with black mold in my house. In today’s message, Pastor Tom mentions using bleach to kill it, but I would probably resort to a wrecking ball and a call to my realtor’s phone. Like that mold, the bitterness in my life needs to be hit with something incredibly powerful to wipe it out, a wrecking ball of God’s grace. See, God’s grace and mercy are far more powerful than any bitterness you could ever hold inside you.

A few years back, I lost my sweet grandmother after a long battle with dementia. If you’ve walked through that, you know it can be brutal, sad, and drawn out. It began to make me bitter. I began to wrongly accuse God of her torment. In today’s message, Pastor Tom teaches that it wasn’t God’s fault… It’s sin’s fault. Ever since the fall of man in Genesis, your connection to God has been broken. It was so broken that God had to fix it by sending Jesus to take your place on the cross so the bridge could be restored.
