She was supposed to go into town, look for an apartment, and return to build a new life with her 18‑year‑old sailor husband, Dennis.</p><p><br /></p><p>She never made it to the bus. </p><p><br /></p><p>What followed was a baffling investigation that stretched from Oklahoma farm roads to an isolated lake, from Chicago headlines to Navy bases, and across an entire decade of rumors, false leads, and heartbreak. Witnesses spoke of a gray pickup truck, a white Chrysler station wagon, men in khaki and straw hats, struggling figures near a lake, bloody clothing in the woods—and yet nothing conclusive ever surfaced.</p><p><br /></p><p>Some investigators became convinced Carol walked away from her life; others insisted she met with violent foul play. Her parents never stopped believing she was alive. Her husband eventually divorced her and remarried. And today, the disappearance of Carol Ann Batterman remains one of Oklahoma’s most haunting unsolved mysteries.</p><p><br /></p>

The murder of Karen Mccollum
<p>On October 29, 2008, the quiet neighborhood of Wine Ridge Lane in Jefferson County was rocked by tragedy when 35-year-old Karen McCollum was found dead in her bed by her husband, Matthew. Matthew claimed the last time he saw Karen was around 4 a.m. that morning before leaving for work, and upon returning, he was confronted with a gruesome sight. </p><p><br /></p><p>Despite months passing, no arrests had been made, causing Matthew to express his desperation and frustration publicly. He voiced that he didn’t mind being considered a suspect, as long as the real killer was found.
