Have you ever looked around, examined your life, and thought is this IT?? I imagine you have, and I KNOW you’re not alone. I’m Kasey and right here beside me is Kelsey. We are licensed professional counselors, mothers, entrepreneurs, oh and besties. We know first-hand what it’s like to wake up one day and think how in the heck did I wind up here? As women, we often think that doing more will bring us closer to joy and fulfillment. Lack connection? We join the PTA. Feel angry? We start working out. But the real answer is something much deeper… The real answer is that nothing “out there” will ever satisfy us. Through our own journeys of self-discovery, we found that joy is something that has to be pursued through our own internal work. Now we’re on a mission to help women from all walks of life understand themselves more so they can experience real, lasting joy. On the Back Porch Bestie podcast, you can expect to hear relatable conversations, as well as interviews with experts who can deepen your understanding of childhood experiences, patterns that keep showing up in your relationships, and point you toward self-discovery and inner joy. Subscribe and tune in every Wednesday!

Reflecting on last week’s conversation with Dr. Tara Sanderson, Kasey and Kelsey continue chatting about perfectionism and how it really does affect how people live their lives. They discuss the connection between perfectionism, confidence, and self-esteem, and share their own stories of lessons learned – like how crucial it is to just accept your flaws and really enjoy the here and now. Get insights on soaking up the present, celebrating being your true self, and ditching that draining need to impress everyone. By embracing those little mishaps and stepping out of your comfort zone once in a while, you'll break free from those perfectionistic tendencies and find yourself actually enjoying life!

Key Topics:

(01:30) Self-esteem, confidence, and fear of failure

(04:00) Insecurities and self-perception in everyday life

(09:10) Confronting perfectionism and embracing authenticity

(12:15) Friendship dynamics and social expectations

(15:30) Embracing imperfection

Connect with Kasey and Kelsey:

instagram.com/hikaseycompton

facebook.com/hikaseycompton

kaseycompton.com/backporchbestie

This episode is sponsored by Tatiana Tsoir - a tax and business strategist, CPA and MBA who makes your life less taxing: we reduce your taxes legally, so that you make and keep more of your money.
