From beloved popcorn flicks of the '80s, '90s and today, to timeless classics and arthouse gems we cover it all. But we’re not just here to talk movies — we’re here to save them! In a world facing imminent asteroid-induced doom (think Armageddon without the happy ending), we’ve built a fallout shelter for the greatest films of all time. With only enough space for a carefully curated vault of 35mm and 70mm reels, the stakes couldn’t be higher. We comb through the likes of AFI’s 100, Sight & Sound’s Greats, and IMDB’s Top 250 to decide which films are worthy of saving — and which will be purged forever.    Sam has spent years trying to get Nathan to watch Gremlins 2: The New Batch. At last, Nathan gives in, and filmmaker and actor Diana Porter joins them to sort through the chaos at Clamp Tower. Is Joe Dante’s 1990 sequel a gleeful act of creative rebellion, or does it throw away so many rules that there’s nothing left to hold onto? Nathan, Sam, and Diana get into the Looney Tunes nature of this film, Daniel Clamp, the parade of new Gremlins, and the movie’s habit of turning everything, including itself, into a joke. Diana also talks about her path from acting to directing, her collaborations with Michael Wisler, and their short films Subscribed, The Rewind, and Proxy.    Jaws 2 (1978) / One Shark, Two Directors, and Three Dozen Stupid Teens / The Search for More Money #1

   Just when you thought it was safe to greenlight a sequel... Nathan and Sam kick off The Search for More Money, a mini-retrospective devoted to those inevitable Hollywood follow-ups born after somebody at the studio looked at the box-office receipts and said, “Well...why don't we just do that again?” First into the water: Jaws 2, the 1978 sequel tasked with following one of the greatest blockbusters ever made. And while the shark may have had fewer mechanical problems this time around, the production certainly didn't. Sam dives deep into the film's famously rocky journey to the screen, including the firing of original director John D. Hancock, his abandoned darker vision of a financially devastated Amity Island, the arrival of Jeannot Szwarc to rescue an already-moving production, major rewrites, cast changes, filming split between Martha's Vineyard and Florida, and a very unhappy Roy Scheider, who apparently had about as much enthusiasm for returning to Amity as Chief Brody had for going back in the water. And beneath all the criticism, there's a bigger question: what happens when a movie you loved as a kid doesn't quite survive the trip back through adult eyes? Nathan and Sam both have deep nostalgia for Jaws 2, but nostalgia can only keep you afloat for so long. Before heading to Amity, Nathan shares his first-ever moviegoing experience overseas, visiting Cinema Trindade in Porto, Portugal for Karim Aïnouz's bizarre black comedy Rosebush Pruning.
