About Back to the Pictures

Welcome to this fortnightly podcast hosted by Ben Rose, Ian Green and Anthon Ogundimu, three former university roommates - reviewing movies like you've never heard before. This trio of student-loan, debt-ridden 30-somethings pledge to re-watch and re-evaluate the movies they once viewed together (usually over a Pot Noodle) during their student days. Follow them, as they discover whether their once treasured flicks still hold up against the standards of cynical life-experience and evolving tastes. Each episode, they travel BACK TO THE PICTURES, screening a movie first viewed during 2005-2009. Moreover, each week the audience are serenaded with film trivia, plot breakdowns and excruciating knit-picking guided by impossible standards. Discussions are glued together with fond memories, private jokes and aimless banter. From Ian's shoutouts to classic film characters such as 'Sausage Charlie' to his shrewd observation of supermarket trolly quantum mechanics, to Anthon's nigh eidetic attention to detail and Ben's nihilistic approach to filmic discourse, this podcast is a shout-out to the duped generation - Viva La Higher Education Act 2004!

   Iron Man

We just hope it's been worth the wait! After an extended absence - Back to the Pictures delivers the final episode of season 4! At least we go out with a bang by bringing you our Iron-clad review of the movie that launched an entire Universe. The film that laid the foundations for a bolder, brighter cinematic future. The one that jump-started the Star Wars of the Millennial Gen. And just as fittingly, a movie that also caps off a wonderful trip down memory lane that has been Season 4 of Back to the Pictures. Yes, we are talking about 2008's (God, has it been that long?!) superhero epic - Iron Man.

He is an even better writer. Let's see what Back to the Pictures thinks in this deeeep analysis of 1997's comedy...romcom? stoner flick? What was it? And what is it today? Chasing Amy.
