In this special farewell episode of Back2Basics on Metro, we pause to reflect on a meaningful milestone and a new beginning. Recorded on April 20, 2026, this episode follows the 14th anniversary of the Back2Basics Magazine launch on April 19, 2012, and marks the final show airing on Metro.
What began as a vision to inspire and inform has evolved into a platform for community conversations, storytelling and connection. In this episode, we reflect on that journey, express gratitude to Metro as a home for the show and share what it means to step into a new season of growth and expansion.

From attending the Grammy Awards and witnessing powerful moments of representation on a global stage, to spotlighting the stage play Happy 2B Nappy written and directed by Kenya Mahogany, a celebration of self-love and identity inspired by Bell Hooks, we explore how storytelling continues to affirm and uplift Black voices. The episode also highlights the courage of journalist Georgia Fort, who was recently arrested while covering a protest, underscoring the ongoing importance of press freedom and accountability. Georgia’s story is a reminder that Black history is something we are actively shaping in music, media, theater and community every single day.
