For the first episode of our new classic-match rewatch format, Andrew and Scott go back to the Bernabéu in April 2017 for one of the great El Clásicos: Real Madrid 2–3 Barcelona.
Messi and Ronaldo. Modric, Kroos and Casemiro. Iniesta and Busquets. Marcelo bombing forward. Sergio Ramos getting sent off. Ivan Rakitic smashing one in. And, with virtually the last kick of the game, Messi winning it before producing that celebration.

Spain Dominate! Argentina’s No-Show + World Cup Awards
Spain are world champions after Ferran Torres’ extra-time winner against Argentina, and Andrew and Scott are here to pick through a final that wasn’t exactly a classic.
We discuss Spain’s control, Argentina failing to register a shot on target, Messi’s possible World Cup farewell, Pedro Porro proving Scott wrong and a halftime show that seemed determined never to end. There’s also Mbappé’s goalscoring record, England retreating against Argentina and whether the third-place playoff should exist at all.
Then we choose our games, goals and players of the tournament and pick six World Cup standouts we want to follow next season.

Are France actually good? Can English banish the demons? WORLD CUP RECAP
The World Cup semi-finals are set: France v Spain and England v Argentina. No pressure then.
This week, we look back at the quarter-finals and work through how we got here. France beat Morocco, but are they actually brilliant or just brutally effective? Morocco offered very little going forward, Mbappé missed from the spot, and VAR delays continue to make everything feel worse.
Spain edged past Belgium, although Belgium’s best performances arrived too late and Spain may have lost a little of their spark. We also preview France v Spain, from Yamal v Digne to Mbappé drifting left, Pedro Porro’s defensive test and whether France are perfectly built to hurt Spain on the break.
Then it’s England v Norway, with Kane and Haaland both quiet, Bellingham stepping up again, spidercam controversy and England finding a way through.
Argentina beat Switzerland after Mac Allister’s header, Embolo’s ridiculous second yellow, Messi’s quietest game of the tournament and a brilliant Julian Alvarez winner.
And finally: England v Argentina. Maradona, the Falklands, Messi, dark arts, World Cup trauma, national identity and the small question of who reaches the final.
