Leon Todd’s Ragdoll: Hair Metal Meets Grunge

Hair metal meets grunge—and the hooks hit just as hard as the riffs. Meet Ragdoll, the Australian hard rock trio blending melodic vocals, heavy grooves, and explosive guitar playing. JR and Gary discover why fans of Whitesnake and Alice in Chains should give this Perth band a listen. Recorded in person at Edinburgh Fringe, guitarist Leon Todd reveals how Ragdoll rescued a collapsed US tour, why they toured America five times before Australia’s East Coast, and what keeps their music heavy without sacrificing melody. An honest, funny conversation about guitars, DIY touring, and finding your audience beyond the algorithm. www.bynhopod.com bynhopod@gmail.com ragdollrock.bandcamp.com 0:00 - Meet Ragdoll8:57 - “Rust”17:28 - “Rewind Your Mind”28:53 - “Tell Me” Live at Rocklahoma37:33 - “Slip” Live at the Rosemount41:36 - Leon Todd Interview46:11 - Touring America Before Australia53:52 - Rescuing a Collapsed Tour58:38 - Becoming a Power Trio1:07:12 - Streaming & the Music Business1:14:24 - Guitars, PRS & Tony Hawk1:22:18 - “Rust” & the Hair Grunge Sound1:29:36 - Did Guitar Hero Help Guitarists?1:32:00 - Lyrics & Performative Outrage1:36:15 - Gazza, Toddy & Aussie Nicknames1:40:27 - Leon Todd’s YouTube Channel1:43:48 - Gary’s Final Thoughts1:44:53 - Credits & Links1:49:49 - Post-Credits Coffee Chat #Ragdoll #LeonTodd #RagdollRock #HardRock #HairGrunge #Grunge #MelodicRock #AustralianRock #PowerTrio #Guitarist #GuitarTone #GuitarPedals #IndependentMusic #MusicDiscovery #BandsYouveNeverHeardOf #BYNHOPod #edfringe2026 #berniedieter #cabaret #hairmetal #nickleback #whitesnake #aliceinchains

“Punk Has Always Been for the Freaks” — An interview with Bernie Dieter at Edinburgh Fringe 2026

Bernie Dieter is the queen of punk cabaret: a Weimar-inspired performer blending original songs, burlesque, circus, satire, audience chaos, and a killer live band. JR catches up with Bernie in Edinburgh, Scotland during the Fringe Festival to talk about celebrating freaks and outsiders, writing fearless songs, turning cabaret into a rock concert, and why the music is always at the heart of the show. From Lick My Pussy and Dick Pick to devastating ballads and full-room drinking anthems, Bernie Dieter’s Club Kabaret is funny, sexy, political, vulnerable, and impossible to put in one box. This is a live, in-person Fringe interview—and an episode you should absolutely watch, not just listen to.
