Son of Encouragement
What if your life had such an impact that people gave you a new name based on your character?
This week we explored the life of Barnabas—a man originally named Joseph who became known as the "son of encouragement." His story challenges us to rethink what true encouragement really means. It's not just compliments or flattery. Barnabas vouched for Paul when everyone else feared him. He restored John Mark when others wrote him off. He invested in people at great personal cost—selling land he'd never replace, risking his reputation, choosing restoration over reputation.
True encouragement costs us something. It means coming alongside people, strengthening their faith, and leaving them better than we found them. When we live this way through the power of the Holy Spirit, people begin to see Jesus alive in us. What would your nickname be if people named you by your character? Let's be known as ones who look like Jesus—building others up, taking risks to restore the broken, and putting courage into people's hearts.
