You will hear from some well known Barnsley voices including Dickie Bird, Stan Richards and Charlie Williams.

Yorkshire artist Ashley Jackson is best known for his stunning watercolours of the Pennine moors, capturing the beauty and drama of the landscape in all seasons. Born in Barnsley, his work has helped inspire generations to appreciate Yorkshire’s natural heritage

Culture Companions is a group for older people who experience social isolation and other barriers (such as bereavement, mental health, disability and poverty) to experiencing a full life.
The group meets weekly, calling Experience Barnsley Museum ‘our second home’, undertaking a large variety of creative and activities:
· Art and craft
· Heritage sessions
· Collection projects
· Poetry and music
· Filmmaking
· Museum trips
· Wellbeing activities
Activities are mostly themed around local heritage, the museum’s exhibitions and collections.
The group is safe, free and accessible.

Ep6: The 1926 General Strike
We're marking the 100th anniversary of the General Strike with an episode featuring miners who grew up in the 1920s and soon afterwards became miners. These interviews are from the Brian Elliott oral history archive, recorded in 2004. The photo alongside this episode is Len Picken, one of the interviewees.
