Ep 8 - Tips for America - Interacting with Police in America
In this episode, we had a conversation with Colorado Police Officer Scott Gillespie about what it’s like to interact with law enforcement in America. Around the world, experiences with authorities or police can vary dramatically. Many of our MKs have grown up on the mission field where these interactions can sometimes be challenging, dangerous, or unfair.
So, what are police officers like in America? Are they trustworthy? What does it take to become a police officer? What should you expect if you’re pulled over in a traffic stop or involved in a car accident? What should be in your car and what should not? What about personal safety—what tips would an officer give to help you stay safe in America? We also discussed how police officers manage the mental health challenges that come with facing consistent danger and traumatic events in their line of work.
