Es ensayista, crítico, investigador, editor. Doctor en Literatura, Magíster en Historia del Arte y Licenciado en Español y Literatura de la Universidad de Antioquia. Obtuvo el Premio Nacional de Literatura Universidad de Antioquia en 2012 y el Premio Nacional de Curaduría Histórica del Instituto Distrital de las Artes y la Fundación Gilberto Alzate Avendaño de Bogotá en 2013.
