BCTV Open Studio: Interview with Amy Goodman and Carl Deal - Steal This Story, Please! 6/8/26
<p>BCTV Open Studio host, and Executive Director Johnny Gifford chats with Amy Goodman, host and Executive Producer of the daily news program Democracy Now!, and Carl Deal, director of Steal This Story, Please!, a documentary featuring the decades of Amy and Democracy Now's journalism. They promote the film's screening at the Latchis Theatre on June 19th, and talk about the film's broader importance. They also discuss the intersection of community media and public access TV stations like BCTV with Democracy Now!, the film and how it is being produced and distributed. Democracy Now! is broadcast daily across the United States and Canada as well as in countries around the world. The program is on Pacifica, NPR, community, college and satellite radio stations; on PBS, public, community and satellite TV; and viewed by millions of people online each day. Headlines are broadcast in Spanish on radio stations across the U.S., Central and South America, and in Europe. This special screening of STEAL THIS STORY, PLEASE! on June 19th, 7pm at the Latchis Theatre includes a Q&A with Amy Goodman, moderated by journalist David Goodman, host of VT Digger’s Vermont Conversation.</p>

He brings a warm and enthusiastic energy to his work and to the community, and has interesting stories to share.</p>
