[…] I grew such a testimony of prayer, and prayer became something that I both looked forward to and dreaded because I knew when I prayed, I would feel and I would cry. And when the scriptures say, go to your closet and pray, that was me. And I would be on my closet floor with a box of tissue and I would be sobbing to Heavenly Father. And as I would sob, it was like processing with a therapist because I would pray out loud. I remember I had a stake president who encouraged me to pray out loud. I don't know what exactly that does. but I know it works and I wonder if it's a combination of things of you hearing your own voice And of you using both sides of your brain as you talk, because you have to articulate, and the crying and the expressing to Heavenly Father.
