Going Back and Forth: Sometimes it's also a grieving process
We know there’s a lot going on in the world & life is REALLY lifing for a lot of people out there. This time asks us to reflect and do better wherever we can.
These themes alongside, ’moving back’ & the joys and sorrows that brings are all part of the conversation we had with nobody other then:
E3, Edri, Edrieënna Brandao. Community Organizer, Writer and much much more!
This conversation was recorded a while back, but somehow (still) fits in the moment we are launching it.
We talked about taking that leap because of elements that ‘force’ or push us back home, wondering how to move forward when we know that facilities back home are not the same as in Europe ánd the neocoloniality of all of this. We also talked about the grief that comes with saying goodbye to people and situations. Edri brought a fresh perspective and we a great time hearing all of their knowledge.
We hope this conversation brings you as much insight as it did us.

Who belongs (t)here?
Season 2, episode 2!
💁🏽♀️🙋🏽♀️Most of you know these faces - that's right! It's Eva and Gyonne.
The hosts of the Be Right Back | Bai Bin Podcast.
Disclaimer: the first few minutes of the audio has some static we can't get out. Bare with us, it gets better further down the episode.
Does this sound familiar?
😼"Oh you're going home, you're going to Aruba - That must be great having “Paradise” as home!"
Then even more so - this episode is for you!
In this conversation Gyonne and Eva delve deep into the notion of going back home for a break - but not always getting that break. It's about homesickness and the complexities of that. It's also a conversation about '18 di maart', national holidays and belonging nowhere and everywhere at the same time. Many postcolonial societies have these holidays. It can bring up a lot of pride, but it also has darker sides to it.

In Between Worlds - Going Back?
In this episode, Eva and Gyonne, together with Kenny and Maxi Hill discuss the question of living in between or going back and what that means for them. What factors play a role for them in deciding to go back or live in between? Who or what is important in making these decisions? If we choose to stay away from the so called ‘back home’, living life on our terms, what responsibilities do we feel in taking care or giving back to home in different ways? How heavy does that weigh in the decisions of our day to day lives?

Surviving or thriving?
Gyonne and Eva discuss mental health with musicologist and researcher Charissa Granger and Jorge Garrido. What kind of daily rituals do they have to keep themselves going? And what about the constant friction choosing between the life you have created and the life you left behind? The Move / Ban Move
Eva and Gyonne talk with singer and activist Caitlin Schaap and artist Jorge Coffie on the long awaited migration from the Caribbean to the Netherlands. How did they experience this? They speak about prepping for the move, different motives of moving and financial risks that come with this. But also about the classist and value creative element of the educational system, and the semi-indoctrination that is implemented regarding moving abroad because of a more qualitative higher education and self-exploitation.
