The Reality of Having ADHD | Becoming That Girl Pod Eps 2
In this episode of Becoming That Girl, Taylor opens up about the realities of living with ADHD as a Black woman navigating work, life, and faith. From impulsive spending and time blindness to the constant cycle of hyperfixation and burnout, she shares her raw, unfiltered journey of what ADHD really looks like beyond the “cute trend” social media makes it out to be.
Taylor reflects on how she first realized she might have ADHD, the struggles she faces in corporate life, and how tools like Notion, books like Women with ADHD, and her faith help her manage day-to-day challenges. She also breaks down common ADHD symptoms—including lack of focus, overtalking, impulsivity, and organizational struggles—while encouraging listeners to give themselves grace instead of labeling themselves “lazy.”
If you’ve ever wondered what ADHD actually feels like, especially for women, or if you’re navigating a similar journey yourself, this conversation will remind you that you’re not alone.

What It Really Means to Be That Girl | Becoming That Girl Pod
What does it really mean to become that girl?
Is it all morning routines, matcha lattes, and aesthetic planners — or is there more to the story? In this raw and vulnerable first episode of the Becoming That Girl podcast, I’m breaking down what it means to step into your purpose and build a vision for your life — even when you’re dealing with ADHD, self-doubt, and figuring it out as you go.
✨ If you’re a Black woman aged 25–35 navigating life, content creation, or entrepreneurship while trying to become the best version of yourself, this space was made for you.
👋🏾 I'm Taylor — and I'm not here to sell you a perfect aesthetic. I'm sharing the truth about what becoming “that girl” means to me:
→ A woman who’s building multiple streams of income
→ A woman choosing consistency over chaos
→ A woman who’s still learning, still healing, and still showing up
→ A woman inviting God into every step
In this episode, I open up about:
Rebranding my podcast and stepping fully into my purpose
Living with ADHD and how it impacts my work, motivation, and self-image
The depression side of ADHD that no one talks about
Why having a vision is vital — even if it’s just a rough draft
How I use Notion, prayer, and small monthly goals to move toward the woman I want to become
🎯 If you’ve ever felt behind, overwhelmed, or unsure where to start — this is your reminder that you’re not alone. Becoming that girl starts with one step: writing the vision and making it plain.

Toxic Independence | What happens when you are overly independent
Today's episode is about toxic independence. How do we know we're overly independent, how did we become overly independent, and how do we heal from being overly independent?
In this thought-provoking podcast episode, we delve deep into the concept of toxic independence and its profound impact on our lives. Join us as we explore the consequences of being overly independent and how it can affect our relationships, our sense of trust, and our overall well-being.
When you're overly independent, you may find yourself relying solely on your own understanding, isolating yourself from the wisdom of others, and struggling to trust anyone but yourself. But how does one become overly independent, and what are the underlying causes? We'll uncover how toxic independence often stems from traumatic experiences, such as absent parental figures, being placed in a parental role at a young age, or feeling like the weight of the world depends on your shoulders alone.
This mindset can lead to a series of limiting beliefs, including "I can't trust anyone but myself" and "I have to do everything perfectly on my own." We'll explore these mindsets and how they can hinder personal growth and meaningful connections.
But fear not, because in the latter part of our episode, we'll discuss the path to healing from toxic independence. We'll share practical steps, including seeking therapy, building a supportive community, and learning to ask for help when needed. Discover how to identify and nurture relationships that are based on trust and reciprocity rather than codependency.
Join us as we embark on a journey towards healthier, more fulfilling relationships and a renewed sense of trust in ourselves and in those around us. It's time to break free from toxic independence and rediscover the beauty of genuine connection. Tune in now and start your journey towards a more balanced and harmonious life.
