What is the Preserve Breast Augmentation Technique?

Preserve is a minimally invasive Motiva technique that skips the scalpel. Houston plastic surgeon Dr. Shannon Kuruvilla walks through how a channel separator, an air-inflated balloon, and a no-touch funnel place a Motiva ergonomix breast implant in your natural anatomy — no cautery, no dissected ligaments, no divided muscle. The breast implant sits above the muscle, in a pocket shaped precisely to its size. Because nothing is cut, recovery is dramatically shorter: shower the next day, drive to work, and get back to heavy lifting in two to three weeks instead of four. Preserve is meant for a first breast augmentation in the 200–315 cc range — think “ballerina boobs” or a subtle enhancement rather than a dramatic size change. Dr. Kuruvilla explains who qualifies, why this innovative breast augmentation technique keeps breast implants from flipping or shifting, and how the whole procedure can be done wide awake under local anesthesia in about 30 minutes. There's No Right Age for a Facelift

Most people go home from facelift surgery needing nothing stronger than Tylenol. What catches them off guard is day three, when the swelling peaks, they look in the mirror, and the second-guessing starts. Houston plastic surgeon Dr. Taylor DeBusk says he is your surgeon until you wake up and go home, then he becomes your therapist for the next seven days. There is no right age you have to reach to have a facelift. What decides it is what you see in the mirror, not a number. Going earlier also tends to hold longer, because younger tissue is thicker and stronger to begin with. The preservation extended release deep plane facelift technique leaves skin attached to muscle almost everywhere, which limits where fluid can collect and takes tension off the incisions. Diet does the rest: high protein, low carb, low sugar, no gluten for four weeks. Add red light therapy and hyperbaric oxygen at two atmospheres and 100% oxygen, which cut swelling and bruising by about 35% in the first two weeks, and most people are “restaurant ready” by day 14. Dr. DeBusk explains how the face ages in thirds, why lifting the lower two thirds alone can look mismatched, what changes for men, where the incisions hide, why he uses general anesthesia instead of twilight, and when to stop a GLP-1 before surgery. Questions answered in this episode: What does a facelift actually lift, and where does it start and stop? Is there a right age to have a facelift? Why does having it done earlier tend to last longer? What is a preservation extended release deep plane face and neck lift? Why does diet make such a difference in how much you swell? Does hyperbaric oxygen therapy really speed up recovery? Why is the first week emotionally hard when it barely hurts? Where do the incisions go, and why don't the scars show? Why general anesthesia instead of twilight or local? When do you stop a GLP-1 before surgery, and when can you restart? His dedication to personalized, nuanced results helps patients achieve greater confidence and an improved quality of life. Every Breast Augmentation Decision, Explained: A Pre-Consult Walkthrough with Dr. Shannon Kuruvilla

Walk into a consult asking for 400cc, and Dr. Shannon Kuruvilla will gently redirect the conversation. The Houston plastic surgeon is on a mission to retire the cup-size shorthand and replace it with something more useful — and this episode is the version of the answer she wants every woman to see before her first appointment. She walks through every choice a woman is asked to make on the way to a breast augmentation: saline versus silicone (and why saline has all but disappeared from cosmetic work), how she sizes with wish pictures, breast-footprint measurements, and try-on sizers instead of numbers, and the four planes she can place an implant in — over the muscle, in the fascia, dual plane, or total submuscular. From there, when fat transfer earns a spot in the plan, the three incision options and what each one trades, and the truth about how long a scar takes to mature. Then she keeps going through the parts most podcasts skip: surgery day at the practice's accredited ambulatory center, what the rest of the day looks like at home, the drop-and-fluff that's confused so many women at the one-week mark, why your nursing team should hear about anything strange before a Facebook group does, what breastfeeding after implants actually depends on, when a breast lift earns a spot alongside the aug, and the long-term ownership conversation — including why the old “change them out every 10 years” rule isn't really the standard anymore. It's the pre-consult video Dr. Kuruvilla wishes every woman could see.
