Turning A Three Month Internship Into A Long Term Digital PR Career

Are you stressing over exams and wondering how to launch a successful digital PR career with absolutely zero experience? If the constant school pressure to have your entire life mapped out in a straight line is getting a bit too much, take a deep breath! In this episode of Behind the Future, we sit down with Morgan Rogers, Content and Digital PR Manager at Reflect Digital, to talk about how she turned a short, student internship into a full-time job she genuinely loves. Morgan’s story is a brilliant reminder that you do not need to have everything figured out at university. No one in her family had ever been to uni, and when she was finishing her English Literature master's, she was completely lost about what to do next. After securing an internship through her university's Employability Points scheme, she actually had to Google what SEO stood for on her phone before her interview! But instead of letting that stop her, she used the internship to get her foot in the door, learn the ropes, and discover where her creative skills fit best. Now, five years later, Morgan is running high-impact campaigns that bridge the gap between viral social media and national news. She shares the brilliant story of how spotting a quirky pet costume trend on TikTok secured massive coverage for her client in national publications like The Mirror and The Daily Mail. She proves that building a successful digital PR career isn't about knowing everything on day one, but about staying curious, being adaptable, and jumping on trends while they are hot. We also dive into the reality of being neurodivergent in a busy creative agency. Morgan opens up about how fast-paced client work actually acted as a form of "exposure therapy" for her, helping her build incredible confidence. Finally, she drops a beautiful truth bomb about why young people need to redefine what "success" actually means and why finding a supportive workplace culture is the ultimate secret to winning in your digital PR career. Tune in to get her exclusive internship cheat codes, conquer your career anxiety, and find out how to land a job you will actually look forward to every single day!
