As the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital celebrates 10 years of robotic surgery, find out how our robotic programme has developed over the last decade and our future goals.
In this episode we hear from Alex Allen, Clinical Lead for Perioperative Theatre Equipment and Robotic Surgery and surgeon Cristina Viola, Consultant Thoracic Surgeon. They discuss how robotic technology is improving precision, enabling less-invasive procedures and reducing recovery times for patients. We also hear about plans for future development in robotics, including advances in paediatric robotic surgery and becoming a robotic training centre.
We also discuss the incredible generosity of the Norfolk and Norwich Hospitals Charity, and their donors, who have funded two new state‑of‑the‑art surgical robots, and are fundraising for a fifth, giving even more patients access to cutting‑edge treatment and faster recovery.

Palliative Care Special
In this episode we speak to Justine Williams, a Clinical Educator in end-of-life care about how our palliative care team helps patients and their loved ones. Justine's role is to deliver education so that all staff are confident in delivering high quality end of life care - something that is so important in in Norfolk which is experiencing a significant increase in its older population. We also discuss the importance of having conversations with our relatives/carers about our future wishes and we look ahead of the second national Advance Care Planning conference taking place in Norwich this May.
