The End of an Era: Thank You, The Chi | Reflecting on 8 Seasons of Representation & Legacy

As The Chi comes to an end after eight unforgettable seasons, I'm reflecting on the impact this groundbreaking series has had on Black storytelling, LGBTQ+ representation, and television as a whole. In this special farewell episode of Behind the Vibe, I share why saying goodbye to The Chi feels so personal, how the show shaped my own journey from dreaming of having a wife and family to becoming a married mom of an 11-month-old son, and why its portrayal of Black families, Black queer love, Black trans women, and Black boys deserves to be celebrated for years to come. I also discuss Lena Waithe's lasting legacy, the opportunities The Chi created for Black actors and creatives, and why representation on screen can change lives in ways that awards never fully capture. If you've been watching The Chi since Season 1—or you've followed my weekly recap series on Instagram and TikTok—this episode is my heartfelt thank-you to the cast, crew, writers, directors, and everyone who made this series unforgettable. Topics discussed: The Chi Series Finale Lena Waithe's impact on television Black representation in mainstream TV LGBTQ+ and transgender representation Black families and queer parenting Black boys and emotional storytelling Why The Chi became one of the most important shows of the last decade My personal journey watching the series over eight seasons Thank you, The Chi. Thank you for the stories, the community, and the representation. South Side forever.

March 2026 Rundown: Jack Harlow’s Monica Album, T.I. Returns & Latto + 21 Savage News

In this episode, I’m introducing a new format, a monthly rundown of what’s shaping music, culture, and conversation in real time. We’re closing out March 2026 with a lot to unpack, from Jack Harlow’s latest album Monica, and its smooth, introspective Loverboy energy, to veteran rappers reminding us what longevity really looks like, and major cultural moments making headlines. I break down Monica and how it leans into melody, vulnerability, and a more intentional, softened approach to hip-hop. It’s one of the most cohesive and easy listens of the year so far, and a clear evolution in Harlow’s artistry. We also get into the return of veteran artists like T.I. and Nelly, including T.I.’s latest single “Trauma Bond” and what it says about lyricism, clarity, and staying power in today’s rap landscape. And of course, I share my thoughts on the cultural moment surrounding Latto and 21 Savage announcing they’re expecting their first child, along with what this new chapter could mean creatively. This episode is all about growth, evolution, intentional artistry, and real-time cultural reflection. If you’re into hip-hop, R&B, and thoughtful takes on where the culture is headed, this one’s for you.
