戒法傳入中國,自姚秦始有廣律,逐步譯出《十誦律》、《四分律》、《五分律》等諸多律本。唐初道宣律祖(西元596-667)依大乘教義釋通《四分律》,因宣祖居於終南山,後人將其論著稱為「南山律」。南山律之內容「貫攝兩乘,囊包三藏」,其中以《四分律刪繁補闕行事鈔》、《四分律含註戒本疏》、《四分律隨機羯磨疏》三部為最要,合稱「南山三大部」。逮及北宋,元照律師(西元1048-1116)撰《資持記》解釋《行事鈔》、《行宗記》解釋《戒本疏》、《濟緣記》解釋《羯磨疏》,後人將此六部合稱「南山六大部」。 南山六大部之內涵主要針對出家眾,而其中戒法、戒體及持犯之基本精神,亦通於在家眾,乃學戒、持戒之基礎。民國以來,中興南山律之高僧弘一大師(西元1880-1942)從六大部中將居士學戒最重要之基礎摘錄成書,名《南山律在家備覽略編》。 日常老和尚(西元1929-2004)一生親近佛教各宗派大德,博通三藏,持戒精嚴,以多年的學修詳審觀察,深感《南山律》之殊勝,發願弘揚。故於1991年間先後在台北佛陀教育基金會、高雄悟光精舍及南投福智精舍等地為僧俗二眾宣講《南山律在家備覽》。 老和尚善觀漢地緣起,平實親近、深入淺出的講述,令學修者易於理解、受持,於此時代再樹戒幢、引領群迷,恩澤廣被。 此1991年版《南山律在家備覽略編手抄稿》共十冊,係依 老和尚所宣講的八十卷錄音帶內容編製而成,其中所標示之卷數及時間亦依原音檔註記,以利大眾學習。 此套書由僧俗二眾弟子共同努力,歷時多年謄稿、校潤而成,儘可能完全保留 老和尚說法時之語句,然錯漏之處仍屬難免,敬祈諸方大德不吝賜教! 月稱光明寺編輯群 謹識 二○一六年十月十九日
