Is There Still A Church? • 1 Thessalonians 1
In this message, Pastor Seth Drewry launches the new series “More and More” from 1 Thessalonians and asks a crucial question: “Is there still a church?” Looking at the story of the young church in Thessalonica, Pastor Seth shows how believers not only survived persecution, but thrived in faith, love, and hope.
From 1 Thessalonians 1, he outlines seven marks of a biblical church:
• A church anchored in Christ alone—Jesus at the center of our past, present, and future.
• A church that knows whose it is—rooted in God’s love and chosen identity.
• A church of truth and power—holding fast to Scripture while welcoming the work of the Holy Spirit.
• A church that suffers without surrendering—enduring affliction with Spirit-given joy.
• A church that echoes the gospel—faith that rings out into homes, workplaces, schools, and communities.
• A church that has truly repented—turning from modern idols to serve the living and true God.
• A church looking for Jesus—living with real hope in Christ’s return.
From Belleville, AR, Pastor Seth calls Believers Fellowship and every listener to examine our own lives and church: Are we the kind of people whose faith endures, whose lives echo the gospel, and who are eagerly waiting for Jesus?
