Values Vs Preferences
This fourth episode of The Ego Coach Podcast explores the differences between values and preferences particularly in relationships. In many domestic disputes and arguments within a relationship most partners will often first voice frustration around a surface level issue which they identify as an act of neglect or infringement on an issue which they care about. However, this is most often a preference and not necessarily a value. I have found that when a person is not living in accordance with their values, they tend to obsess or fixate on their preferences and this causes great strife in their intimate relationships as they do not necessarily understand why they are so upset over their partner not succumbing to their preferences. Id vs Superego

The Ego
This first episode explores the origins of both the word and conceptualization of the human ego as first coined by Sigmund Freud and what it has come to be understood as in modern times within pop culture. Throughout the podcast's series we will explore the different functions of the id, ego, and superego, and use them as a general reference when exploring mechanisms for self-improvement, growth, and enhancing mindset skills. It is my hope that through this podcast we might reframe our understanding of the role our ego plays in our personality and how it impacts our life decisions.
