Better Lighting is based on the idea that the difference between the boring humdrum of daily life and the crisp sheen of the silver screen is simply better lighting!
Ed and Dan won't admit it, but they're film buffs who won't shut up about it. (Don't get them started on the MCU Civil War debate again!) They're also avid gamers and generally into all things nerdy. Consider this your one-stop shop for nerd culture and general discussion from the perspective of two very opinionated people. So yeah... ANOTHER podcast. But at least this time there's Better Lighting!
The One Where Sex Robots Accidentally Teach Children
Daniel and Edward spend this episode proving, once again, that they are absolute idiots. A simple “How are you?” derails into an existential crisis, a BoJack quote, and a debate about whether sadness counts if your life is technically fine. Daniel reveals he uses “avocado” as a workplace safe word because he’s too emotionally clumsy to say “please stop bullying me,” and Edward immediately regrets knowing him.
From there, the stupidity escalates: half‑remembered celebrity scandals, Page 3 nostalgia, and Daniel confidently citing tabloid rumours like they’re peer‑reviewed science. They stumble into sex tech, VR shame, delivery drivers who “definitely know,” and the horror of accidentally discovering that a sex‑robot company also makes classroom robots. Somehow they end up talking about RoboCop, stop‑motion trauma, billion‑dollar movies, and why Denis Villeneuve is a wizard.
It’s messy, emotional, unhinged, and deeply stupid — exactly what Better Lighting is for.

The One With the Double Rub‑Out Problem
Everything goes wrong before anything goes right. Daniel and Edward kick off EP50 wrestling with rogue microphones, Discord echoes, Adobe refusing to record, and the general curse of trying to podcast in 2026. Once the tech finally behaves, the conversation detonates into a nostalgia‑fuelled rant about how people used to pirate everything — anime, movies, football — and how Gen Z has no idea what it meant to hunt for content.
Daniel confesses to watching non‑hentai anime on RedTube, Edward reacts like he’s witnessing a crime, and the two spiral into a ridiculous bit about “front‑end and back‑end distractions” before pivoting into football streams drowning in ads, sketchy websites, and why Prime Video has become a villain.

The One With The Return of The Piss Jug
Remote recording brings out the madness in this one. Daniel and Edward fire up the mics from their respective caves — Daniel in his sensible office chair, Edward in full gamer‑in‑lockdown mode — and immediately spiral into debates about stains, piss jugs, “ayo” culture, and why white guys have turned competitive gayness into a sport.
From there it only gets more unhinged:
Covid nostalgia (the good bits, not the global trauma)
Among Us memories and the death of randoms in party chat
Battlefield etiquette and the absolute audacity of someone asking “anyone got a mic?” in 2026
Poster‑frame snobbery, SteelSeries betrayal, and the slow decay of headset earcups
A surprisingly thoughtful detour into travel snobbery, Europe, childhood holidays, and why some people act like leaving the continent makes them spiritually superior
It’s classic Better Lighting: two friends talking nonsense, calling each other out, and somehow landing on real observations about life, adulthood, and the weird social rules we all pretend make sense.
