Episode 15 - Mental Health Awareness - BELONGING MATTERS
"Ko Au Ko Koe Ko Koe Ko Au - I am you and you are me"
This week we once again want to congratulate all our family and friends who gathered last week and continue to celebrate Fiji Language Week. We celebrate Fiji Language Week with our Fijian Artists.
We reflect on last week's Mental Health Awareness Week themed 'Belonging Matters,' and explore ways to help others feel welcome and included.
Saying hello, checking in, sharing a cuppa or inviting someone into a conversation can be a meaningful place to start.
Being at a gatherings doesn't always mean feeling connected especially when you've arrived alone and don't know anyone.
We also remind listeners to reach out to local organisations such as MASH Trust, Methodist Social Services, The Salvation Army, Niuvaka Trust, Whakapai Hauroa, Te Tihi and Te Aroha Noa, to name just a few support service providers. Ask about their counselling, financial support, navigation services, or help connecting with another organisation that may meet your needs.
Visit our https://www.facebook.com/Between2worldswithTeisa where we'll share local support information and contact details.
It's okay to ask for help and we can all play a part in helping someone feel they belong.

Episode 14 - Community Connections - Grief and Mental Awareness Week with Nigel
Teisa welcomes Palmy local Nigel who shares a little of his personal journey and his work in mental health. Reflecting on Mental Health Awareness Week, our conversation explores grief and loss and what these experiences can look like for our families, whānau and aiga.
Our message is simple: It's 'OK' to ask for help There are people and services ready to support you, but we understand sometimes it's hard to ask for help if you don't know what support you need or want.
Sometimes that help can be just being there for you, having a cuppa tea, taking you for a drive to just get out of the house, or simply listening to you reminisce.
We look forward to welcoming community service providers in the coming weeks to share the available support they offer. As we head towards the festive season we need to make sure "everyone" is okay.
Please follow us on our Facebook Page where we will share some of the local Service Providers.

Episode 12 - The Pause. Holding space
We talk about 'The Pause,' which is sort of the 'in-between period,' like when you're moving from one place to another, or even between jobs. There's that period of time where it can feel like nothing is happening.
For some this time can often feel like 'nothingness' (if that's a word) it's like you're just floating. This can be a frustrating time especially if you feel nothing is working or happening, causing us to panic or stress.
Then there's 'Holding Space, where we sometimes sit with someone during their moments of 'The Pause'. What does this look like? What does this feel like, and what does it mean?
Well for many it can mean many things.
Our special guest and friend Janelle travelled from Kirikiriroa, Hamilton, to be beside her sister as their whānau eagerly awaited the arrival of a precious new baby. Her journey reminded us that holding space does not always mean having the answers or trying to fix everything. Sometimes, it means simply being present listening, encouraging, praying and reminding someone that they are not alone.
We reflected on the pause between an ending and a new beginning, waiting for news or direction and trusting GOD when we cannot yet see what comes next.
The pause is not always an empty space. It can be a sacred time of preparation, healing, hope and love.
We look forward to having a monthly catchup with Janelle as she shares some of her heartfelt journey and insights from her Faith.

Episode 04 - Life can change in a moment
In this episode Teisa reflects on how life can change in a moment.
An important reminder to caregivers and loved ones that asking for help is a sign of strength not weakness.
And if someone feels like their voice is not being heard we encourage them to reach out, whether that be to family, friends, Doctors or community organizations. Explore any and all Support Services and community resources until you feel you are being listened to.
We are reminded how precious our loved ones really are and how much presence matters. If you are family or a friend and don't know what to do or say just being present speaks volumes.
If you have a loved one living with a chronic illness, encourage them to listen to 'Sick and Tired Aotearoa,' a show that shines a light on chronic and invisible illnesses in Aotearoa. Renee discusses the challenges she faces and how this impacted her and her family.
