Episode 86: Does the Time of Death Decide Your Destiny? | Bhagavad Gita 8.23–28 Explained
Does liberation depend on whether someone dies during the day, at night or during उत्तरायण? Do the final conditions of death decide whether the soul attains freedom—or returns through rebirth?
In Episode 86 of Beyond the Battlefield, Jessica and Ankur Pancholi explore Bhagavad Gita Chapter 8, Verses 23–28, where Krishna describes two eternal paths: the path of light that leads toward liberation and the path of darkness that leads back into the cycle of birth and death.
Krishna uses powerful symbols—fire and smoke, light and darkness, day and night, शुक्ल पक्ष and कृष्ण पक्ष, उत्तरायण and दक्षिणायन. Alongside their traditional cosmic meaning, these symbols reveal a deeply practical inner truth:
Death does not suddenly create our destination. It reveals the direction in which our consciousness has been moving throughout life.
In this episode, discover:
The deeper meaning of Krishna’s two paths after death
Whether liberation depends on the timing of death
How fire, light and उत्तरायण represent expanding awareness
How smoke, darkness and दक्षिणायन represent clouded consciousness
Why rebirth is another opportunity for growth—not a punishment
The difference between spiritual merit and genuine liberation
Why good karma can elevate us, but only realization can set us free
What it means to remain established in Yoga at all times
Why rituals, charity, discipline and scripture are paths—not the destination
How AI can explain wisdom but cannot transform us on our behalf
In an age of speed, automation and limitless information, Krishna asks a question technology cannot answer:
Are we moving toward freedom—or merely travelling faster in the same circle?
Chapter 8 began with questions about death, but it concludes by teaching us how to live—because the final state of consciousness is shaped through the choices, habits and intentions we practise today.

Episode 85: What Remains When Everything Changes? | Bhagavad Gita 8.19–22 Explained
What remains when your body, thoughts, relationships, ambitions—and even your professional identity—begin to change?
In Episode 85 of Beyond the Battlefield, Jessica and Ankur Pancholi explore Bhagavad Gita Chapter 8, Verses 19–22, where Krishna takes us beyond the recurring cycles of cosmic creation and dissolution toward an eternal reality that was never created—and therefore can never be destroyed.
Krishna calls this reality अक्षर—the imperishable; परम गति—the supreme destination; and परम धाम—the inner home where restless searching finally ends. But how is it attained? Krishna’s answer is अनन्य भक्ति: devotion without inner division, through which the Divine is recognized not only in prayer, but in work, relationships, leadership and every human being.
In this episode, discover:
Why creation repeatedly appears and dissolves within the cosmic cycle
The difference between the two meanings of अव्यक्त
What remains unchanged when bodies, thoughts and identities change
Why परम धाम is more than a distant spiritual destination
How ambition changes when we stop using achievement to prove our worth
Why conscious leaders protect purpose—not merely existing forms
How अनन्य भक्ति transforms the way we work, decide and treat others
Why AI can optimize a part, while human consciousness must remain responsible for the whole
As roles evolve, skills become outdated and AI transforms the workplace, these verses ask a deeply personal question:
If everything you can do becomes replaceable, what defines your deepest worth?

Episode 84: Even Billions of Years Must End — What Is Truly Eternal? | Bhagavad Gita 8.15–18
What if billions of years… were still only a moment?
In Episode 84 of Beyond the Battlefield, we explore Bhagavad Gita Chapter 8, Verses 15–18, where Krishna dramatically expands Arjuna’s understanding of time, creation, rebirth and eternity.
Krishna reveals something extraordinary: even Brahmaloka, the highest realm within creation, is not permanent. One day of Brahma stretches across one thousand महायुग—and his night across another thousand. Yet even this almost unimaginable span eventually comes to an end.
So why does Krishna take Arjuna into such enormous scales of cosmic time?
Not simply to explain the universe.
He is challenging one of our deepest assumptions—that if something lasts long enough, perhaps it becomes permanent.
It doesn’t.
A hundred years ends.
A billion years ends.
Even cosmic creation appears… disappears… and appears again.
And that leads to the deeper question at the heart of this episode:
If everything within time eventually changes, what does it mean to discover something beyond time?
Jessica and Ankur explore:
• Why Krishna describes liberation as freedom from the cycle of पुनर्जन्म
• Why even the highest created realms remain temporary
• The astonishing meaning of Brahma’s cosmic day and night
• Why “very long” is NOT the same as eternal
• How our obsession with longevity, legacy and permanence shapes modern life
• What Krishna may really mean when he points toward the eternal
This episode is not simply about how long the universe lasts.
It is about changing the scale from which we look at our own lives.
Because perhaps the real question isn’t…
“How can I make what I have last forever?”
Perhaps it is…
“What within me was never dependent on time in the first place?”
