The Hidden Metaphors of the Bible: Rethinking Scripture with Dror Ben Ami
What if some of the most familiar stories in the Bible contain meanings that go far beyond their literal interpretation?
In this episode, I sit down with Dror Ben Ami, author of The Vineyard and The Final Jubilee, to explore his unconventional approach to Biblical analysis and the deeper meanings he believes can be found within Scripture.
Dror studied English and Comparative Literature at Georgetown University, George Washington University, and the University of Haifa. His research, which began decades ago, has been strongly influenced by the work of scholar and mystic Maurice Nicoll. His approach examines Biblical stories through metaphors, symbolism, language, and literary interpretation. (Google Books (https://books.google.com/books/about/The_Vineyard.html?hl=en&id=-IMGEgAAQBAJ&output=html_text&utm_source=chatgpt.com))
We explore how Biblical metaphors may change the way we understand familiar stories, the significance of words and symbols throughout Scripture, and why Ben believes examining the original language and deeper context can reveal meanings that may be overlooked through traditional interpretations.
We also discuss his recently released books, The Vineyard and The Final Jubilee, and the ideas behind his decades of research into the Old and New Testaments.
Whether you approach Scripture from a religious, academic, literary, or simply curious perspective, this conversation invites you to look again at stories you may think you already know.
