“I Know Your Works” — What Jesus Says to 4 Churches (Revelation 2)
"I know your works." That phrase opens four of the seven letters in Revelation 2-3, and it changes everything about how to read them. This isn't a general assessment from a distance — it's Jesus, the one standing among the lampstands with eyes like fire, writing to four real churches about exactly what he sees in each of them.
Ephesus held the doctrine and lost the love. Smyrna was poor and under threat — and the richest church in the chapter. Pergamum stayed faithful in the city where someone had already died for the name, while tolerating compromise inside. Thyatira was growing in love and service while harboring the one teaching them astray.

The First Thing Revelation Shows You Isn’t the Beast (Revelation 1 Explained)
Most people open Revelation expecting the Beast, the Mark, or the end of the world. Chapter 1 shows you something else first: Jesus, standing in the middle of seven lampstands, eyes like fire, holding seven stars — and a hand laid on John saying don't be afraid.
Before we read a single verse, we look at what kind of book this actually is — apocalyptic literature, a genre where numbers, colors, and imagery carry symbolic weight rather than literal detail. That one shift changes how the rest of Revelation should be read.

The One-Chapter Book That Warns About False Teachers (Jude Explained)
Twenty-five verses. No chapters. And a letter the author never planned to write — Jude wanted to write about salvation, but changed course the moment he realized certain men had already slipped through the door.
This is one of the most overlooked books in the New Testament, sitting between 3 John and Revelation, and most reading plans walk past it without stopping. But it's also one of the strangest and most specific — citing Cain, Balaam, Korah's rebellion, the archangel Michael disputing with the devil over the body of Moses, and a direct quote from the prophecy of Enoch.
In this episode:
• The full text of Jude, verse by verse (World English Bible)
• Who these "certain men" were and how they crept in unnoticed
• The Old Testament warnings Jude builds his case on — Egypt, the angels, Sodom
• What it means to "contend for the faith once delivered"
• Why the letter ends not with a warning, but a doxology of joy
What comes to mind when you hear the word "contend"? Fighting, defending, holding a line? Tell me in the comments. I read every one.
Next time: Revelation — the last book, and the one that begins with a man on an island.
