Bible Heresy for the 21st Century

About Bible Heresy for the 21st Century

Heresy is simply a belief that goes against what is generally accepted or the official tenets of a religion. In our case, it is outside the generally accepted major .doctrines of the Chrisitan Church. Or in simple terms, we will be coloring outside the lines; and beyond that, we will question who drew the lines and why. We will be discussing a lectionary reading and look at them with “a new pair of glasses”. How does the scripture speak to us in the 21st century?

   Trans Biblical & Heresy

Our guest today is the Rev. Dr. Katy Valentine. Christian metaphysical intuitive. New Testament scholar who studies the intersections of slavery, gender, and sexuality in the Bible. She is one of the editors of Trans Biblical - New Approaches to Interpretation and Embodiment in Scripture – some would call heretical. You can find out more about Katy on her website: https://katyvalentine.com/ You’ll hear the word “transgenderism” on the podcast, but the preferred term these days is simply “transgender” or “trans” — you can find out more about why here: https://glaad.org/term-to-avoid-transgenderism/?no_redirect=true. If you’ve caught yourself saying “transgenderism” no worries, you have the chance to fix that now. Here is another quick FAQ sheet for you! https://heyimtrans.com/cheat-sheet/
