About Bible805, Lessons and commentary to help you know, trust, apply, and teach the Bible

God wants us to know Him, and the Bible is one of the ways He has communicated everything we need to do that and for our salvation forever and a fulfilling life now. In this podcast, I take sometimes difficult-sounding Bible topics and make them easy to understand--at least that's what my students over many years have told me! Topics I discuss or will be talking about in the coming year include explaining concepts like the Trinity, answers to the big questions of life including why are we here and what went wrong? What about life after death? What about people who never heard of Jesus? How did we get the Bible, why can we trust it, and how is the Bible different than other religious writings? I'm Yvon Prehn, a lay teacher and a writer for Jesus, and in addition to the podcast, I have many more resources on the www.Bible805.com website to help you know, trust, apply, and teach the Bible. Go there for show notes, commentary, and resource links to videos, charts, teaching resources, and printables to help you bring God's Word into every part of your life. The Good News of Salvation in Jesus, why you need it, how to get it

Yvon PRehn makes the central point clear from the start: salvation in Jesus is not a self-help grab or a feel-good slogan but the defining, life-changing gift God offers — why people need it, what it really means, and how to make it theirs. She explains that sin is choosing our way over God’s, that living apart from Him leads to empty lives now and real, eternal consequences later, and that Jesus paid the penalty for humanity’s sin by living perfectly, dying on the cross, and rising again. The podcast corrects common misunderstandings: becoming a Christian doesn’t promise an easy, trouble‑free life, it isn’t a license to keep living as before, and it always brings a new place in God’s forever family. Practical next steps follow her teaching — confessing faith, beginning Bible reading and prayer, joining a Bible‑teaching church and small groups, and publicly following Jesus in baptism — and she points listeners to her book and free PDF at Bible805 for deeper study. Warm but honest, she urges careful, informed commitment and offers a simple prayer to help people respond, reminding them that angels rejoice when someone turns to Christ. Yvon Prehn walks listeners through the essential contours of the Christian gospel with a steady, pastoral clarity: humanity’s brokenness, God’s solution, and the personal choice that follows. She frames the problem honestly—people are born with a bent to "go our own way," and no amount of outward goodness or moral effort can erase that inward rebellion. Rather than sugarcoating the reality, she explains that sin at its core is choosing self over God, and that choice carries eternal consequences if left unaddressed. At the same time, she insists this diagnosis is not meant to frighten but to point to the one place where the news is truly good: salvation in Jesus. The podcast traces the Bible’s storyline—promise after promise from Eden through the prophets, culminating in Christ’s life, death, and resurrection—and emphasizes that Jesus’ substitutionary death is the heart of the remedy, however mysterious it may seem to human reason. Pran also confronts contemporary misconceptions head-on. She rejects any suggestion that saying yes to Jesus is a get-rich-quick or trouble-free ticket; rather, following Jesus will sometimes bring intensified spiritual warfare even as it opens access to resources—Scripture, prayer, the Holy Spirit, and angelic help—that believers did not have before. It challenges the idea that one can accept salvation as a mere convenience and then live unchanged, using the marriage analogy to show that genuine faith implies a relationship, commitment, and transformation. Finally, the podcast invites response: to reject, to investigate further, or to receive Jesus with the seriousness the decision deserves, offering concrete next steps—Bible reading, church involvement, small-group connection, and baptism—and pointing listeners to Bible805 and her book for deeper study. Takeaways: The podcast insists salvation in Jesus is foundational: without a personal saving relationship, nothing else truly matters in life. The podcast warns the Gospel is not a quick-fix or a no-commitment goodie; it requires repentance, genuine commitment, and counting the cost. The podcast explains sin as choosing one’s own way instead of God’s will, an inner condition human effort cannot ultimately fix. The podcast summarizes the Good News: Jesus lived without sin, bore humanity’s sins on the cross, and through his death and resurrection offers forgiveness and eternal life to all who trust him. The podcast urges seekers to be thoughtful—gather information, read the Bible, join a Bible-teaching church community, pray, and publicly affirm faith through baptism. Revive your interest in the Bible—fascinating facts about prophecy, God and time, & and why it’s like your favorite novel

Reviving your interest in the Bible is the main focus of today’s discussion, as we explore how this ancient text is more than just a collection of stories—it’s a coherent narrative authored by God himself. We delve into fascinating facts about prophecy, the significance of understanding time in relation to God, and how these elements shape our personal walk with Him. I’ll share some striking statistics that reveal a troubling trend: many people today lack a biblical worldview, primarily due to not engaging with the Bible regularly. This episode encourages us to see the Bible as a singular, grand narrative rather than a random assortment of tales, helping us to comprehend its relevance in our lives. Join me as we unpack the structure of the Bible, its prophetic nature, and how understanding these aspects can lead to a deeper connection with God. Takeaways: The Bible is seen not just as a collection of stories, but as a coherent narrative with one divine author, God, who communicates a unified message throughout. Recent statistics reveal a significant decline in biblical literacy, especially among younger generations, highlighting the need for renewed interest and engagement with Scripture. Understanding the structure of the Bible as similar to a novel can enhance our appreciation for its themes and encourage deeper study and application in our lives. The concept of progressive revelation shows how key biblical doctrines are introduced early in Scripture and unfold over time, culminating in the life and sacrifice of Jesus.
