Increasing Our Awareness of the Distraction

🕊️ The Notes I Leave: Increasing Our Awareness of the Distraction Total Time: ~30 minutes Format: 1/2 public + 1/2 members-only ⸻ 🕊️ INTRO Shalom, and grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Welcome to The Notes I Leave podcast. The Hebrew word “shalom” signifies more than mere peace; it signifies wholeness, completeness, well-being, harmony with God and others. All of which, I wish for you. The purpose of this podcast is to share the diverse experiences I encounter as a professor, teacher, entrepreneur, student, father, son, brother, and follower of Christ Jesus. These notes are intended for you, now and in the future. ⸻ 📖 MAIN MESSAGE 📜 This week’s theme: In this episode, I discuss how the Lord has reminded me of tricks the devil plays in our lives through distractions and evilness. 📜 Anchor verse(s): 1 What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members? 2 You lust and do not have; so you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures. 4 You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think that the Scripture speaks to no purpose: “He jealously desires the Spirit which He has made to dwell in us”? 6 But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.” 7 Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Be miserable and mourn and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you. James 4:1-10, New American Standard Bible, 1995 📜 Application or takeaway: The Lord has placed on my heart the need to shake those within my circle of influence. ⸻ 🙏 TRANSITION TO MEMBERS That is the heart of what the Lord laid on me this week—but for those of you walking this journey further with me, there is a deeper side I want to share; in the members-only section, I’ll be opening up about how this career change challenged me as a father and a disciple. But first, I would like to leave you with a quote and question. 📚 Quote: “It is funny how mortals always picture us as putting things into their minds: in reality our best work is done by keeping things out.” —C.S. Lewis ☕️ Question: What is being kept out of your life that you think isn’t? 📞 Call to action: If you are not yet a member and want to support this work while gaining full access to deeper reflections like these, head to https://www.biblicalanatomyacademy.com (https://www.biblicalanatomyacademy.com) click on ‘Podcasts,’ and then click on ’Support the Podcast’ or simply access the direct link via https://podcast.biblicalanatomy.com/support (https://podcast.biblicalanatomy.com/support) ⸻ 🕯️ PRAYER AND BLESSING Father, thank You for guiding us—even when the path is not clear to us. What is the Best Bible Study

🕊️ The Notes I Leave: What is the Best Bible Study Total Time: ~30 minutes Format: ~1/2 public + ~1/2 members-only ⸻ 🕊️ INTRODUCTION Shalom, and grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. These notes are intended for you, now and in the future. ⸻ 📖 MAIN MESSAGE 📜 This week’s theme: In this episode, I discuss how the Lord answers our prayers with His word. 📜 Anchor verse(s): 10 You are witnesses, and so is God, how devoutly and uprightly and blamelessly we behaved toward you believers; 11 just as you know how we were exhorting and encouraging and imploring each one of you as a father would his own children, 12 so that you would walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory. 13 For this reason we also constantly thank God that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe. 1 Thessalonians 2:10-13, New American Standard Bible, 1995 📜 Application or takeaway: The Lord has placed on my heart the need to be involved in a Bible-believing church and armoring ourselves with the Word of God daily. Increasing Our Awareness of the Distraction

Published 8 Dec 2025 · Transcript excerpt

[…] So today I wanna discuss how the Lord has reminded me, how the devil plays tricks on us, and how he keeps us in distraction, and his evilness is successful when he keeps us in distraction. He doesn't necessarily need to get us on his team or to get us to buy into what he's doing or worship him. In goal, that's what he wants is to be worshiped. But if he can just get us away from the Lord, that is a win for him. That is success for him. And first, we're going to get into James chapter 4 and talk about this, and I think that this will make more sense when we have evidence in Scripture that talks to this problem and how it existed at that time and still exists very much today.
