Why Scouts Aren't Singing Campfire Songs Anymore
Have you noticed a shift around the campfire lately? While watching the classic TV game show Catchphrase recently, a realization hit me about how our Scout campfire traditions might be evolving and why so many young people today are sitting in silence instead of singing along. In this video, I explore why traditional campfire songs and sketches might not be connecting with modern Scouts the way they used to, why some leaders are hesitant to update them, and how we can refresh our campfire programmes to bring back the energy, engagement, and fun for today's young people.🔥 What does your group do for campfires? Are you sticking to the classics, or have you found new songs and activities that work? Let's discuss in the comments below!Timestamps:0:00 - The Catchphrase Realization0:50 - What’s Happening at Modern Campfires?1:45 - The Problem with Outdated Traditions2:30 - Why Leaders Are Hesitant to Change3:15 - How to Refresh Your Campfire Night4:05 - Final Thoughts & Moving Forward
